Police are investigating the separate deaths of two college students over the weekend in Ithaca, NY.

Cornell sophomore George Desdunes, 19, was found unresponsive in his fraternity house Friday and died later that day. According to the Cornell Daily Sun, alcohol may have been a factor in his death.

Ithaca College freshman Victoria Cheng, 17, was discovered deceased in the snow behind her house, the Associated Press reports. Police do not suspect foul play in her death.

Students at both campuses gathered over the weekend to remember the students. Desdunes, a biology and society major, was described as "remarkably friendly" and spiritual. Cheng was remembered for her intellect and sense of humor.

Very sad, much too young. It sounds as if both of them were not doing anything or experiencing anything out of the ordinary.

Word to the wise: If your kids are going to drink in college, teach them to drink just wine & beer. Although all alcohol is dangerous, the harder drinks are tougher to measure and usually cause the most serious problems.

At 19 he was underage. Somebody supplied him with the booze. That somebody is going to go to jail. Let it be a lesson to all.

Alcohol is a drug more people need to realize this. So sad!

I'm sure that people realize that alcohol is a drug. I think the issue lies more in the need for people to realize what their limits are and the consequences of exceeding those limits. I agree with you, though: this story is unfortunate.

I can't even begin to fathom what their families must be going through. You send your children to college hoping for nothing but the best... My heart goes out to the victim's families.

Why do I read these articles when they make me so sad and depressed. Both were so young with their whole life in front of them. My heart goes out to their friends and family.
