The Early Years of the Peace Corps

In commemoration of the agency’s 50th anniversary, we present a discussion on the creation and early history of the agency. Chris Matthews, broadcaster and journalist—and Peace Corps Volunteer in Swaziland from 1968 to 1970—will moderate. Panelists include Bill Moyers, Ambassador Jack Hood Vaughn, and Senator Harris Wofford—all of whom held leadership roles during the agency’s early years. Peace Corps Director Aaron S. Williams will introduce the panel.

My Thoughts be Bloody: The Bitter Rivalry Between Edwin and John Wilkes Booth that Led to an American Tragedy

National Archives, Washington, DC

Historian Nora Titone discusses her book My Thoughts be Bloody, which chronicles the rivalry between the Booth brothers Edwin and John Wilkes in their efforts to claim their father’s legacy on the stage. A book signing will follow the program.
