Sometime in-between closing my 30th rift and entering my seventh dungeon, I found myself wondering if I could live in the world of Telara. Not in the role-playing sense, of course -- but in the sense that I could dump precious months into this competent pretender to Blizzard's massively multiplayer online throne and walk away with no regrets. And for a while, I was a believer. Rift seduced me (and countless others) with the promise of a dynamic world, with protean class and talent systems. It flirted with breathtaking visuals and gameplay that drew from the best aspects of World of Warcraft, EverQuest, and Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.
