Richard Hatch earned his place in pop culture history by winning the very first series of the CBS hit "Survivor," viewed by 54 million people in the year 2000. Hatch outwitted and outlasted 15 other contestants on the island of Pulau Tiga to win a $1 million first prize. After winning "Survivor," Hatch wrote a book entitled "101 Survival Secrets," published in November 2000. Hatch decided to go back to "Survivor" in 2004 when he joined the cast of "Survivor All-Stars," but was eventually voted off in the fifth episode. Hatch recently became one of the original 10 inductees into the "Survivor" Hall of Fame.

Hatch has appeared and guest starred on numerous other television shows, including "Dog Eat Dog," "The Weakest Link," "Battle of the Network Reality Stars," "Becker," and the Australian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Hatch also co-hosted "LIVE with Regis," the "CBS Early Show," and made a cameo in the 2006 film "Another Gay Movie."

Prior to Hatch's "Survivor" appearance, he was a corporate trainer and motivational speaker. He spent five years in the United States Army, two of which were at West Point's United States Military Academy.

Hatch has two adult sons and is married to Argentine Emiliano Cabral. They await the day their marriage will be recognized in this country. Hatch is honored to work with many charitable organizations, including GrassrootSoccer and Give Kids the World.

Hatch currently resides in Newport, Rhode Island.

Richard Hatch is playing for Grassroot Soccer, an organization that works in parts of Africa where the infection of AIDS runs rampant. Using soccer stars as their spokespeople, they educate the population about the devastation of AIDS. Richard has been a part of this organization from its inception, so he's seen the impact and effectiveness Grassroot Soccer has had in reducing AIDS infections in Africa.

1. What got you interested in being on Celebrity Apprentice?
Celebrity Apprentice is unique in reality television in that the show exists to raise money for charitable causes. I'm grateful for the opportunity to raise money for the charity of my choice, Grassroot Soccer.

2. How did you get involved with your chosen charity?
Grassroot Soccer was co-founded by my friend and fellow "Survivor winner," Ethan Zohn. Since the charity's founding, I've done what I've been able to support Ethan and his charity.

3. What is it like competing against fellow celebrities?
There are some brilliant professionals behind participant selection for all of Mark Burnett's reality shows. The combination of personalities invited to participate in this season of Celebrity Apprentice is an unparalleled mix. Outgoing, outspoken and each focused on raising money for his or her own charity, we go for it this season, like no other.

4. What about the competition was harder than you might have expected?
Overcoming misperceptions of who I really am is tougher for me than I expected it to be, especially early on.

5. Do you have a favorite past winner or contestant from the first three seasons of Celebrity Apprentice?
I've enjoyed watching many of the earlier seasons' contestants, and perhaps Piers Morgan specifically, but I remain most impressed by Don Jr. and Ivanka's poise, directness and intelligence. They are remarkable people.

1. What was it like hearing the words "You're fired?"
Ugh... I was so disappointed in not having had a chance to defend myself - which I would have done with gusto.

2. Did you agree with Trump's rationale for your firing? Or did you think one of the other contestants deserved it more?
I understand Mr. Trump's logic, but I think he made a huge mistake. I'd been working hard to connect with large donors and it was only a matter of time. On every other measure, I had already been performing admirably.

3. What moment or moments on the show were you surprised to see? Were you particularly surprised by anyone's behavior on the show?
I was often surprised, but never more so than by Gary Busey. He ranged unpredictably from being angry, demanding, and inconsiderate to childlike and playful, always appearing unaware of how he was impacting those of us around him.

4. Do you feel as though you've made any lasting friendships and business relationships from the show? With whom?
I hope so. Having spent all of my time on the men's team, I found myself dearly appreciating different things about all the guys and I hope to stay in touch. I particularly enjoyed getting to know and spending time with Meat Loaf, Lil Jon, Mark McGrath, and John Rich. I'd do anything for any of them. And I am truly grateful for having had the opportunity to work with Marlee Matlin, for whom I have developed tremendous respect. I just plain love the woman, and now consider her a friend.

5. What was the best part of your experience? Why?
For me, coming to care for the people I met was a joyful surprise and the best part of this experience.
