Stamford's Tania Bailey hit by new injury setback

Tania Bailey
Bailey has slipped down the world rankings after a run of injuries

Stamford's Tania Bailey has been ruled out of action for four to six months after undergoing a knee operation.

Bailey, 31, had expected to be out for around six weeks following surgery to remove a small piece of cartilage.

But it was discovered that the damage was more severe than first thought, resulting in an operation to repair a hole in her knee.

It is the latest setback for Bailey, who returned from hip surgery to play in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

But she has not played since injuring her knee in the world team championships in New Zealand in December 2010.

Bailey's run of injuries have seen her slip from the top ten to 36th in the WISPA world rankings.
