The Green Print Alliance mantra is Einstein’s quote “It is man’s obligation to give back to the world the things he takes out”. Paper the second largest byproduct of pulp in the world is a key topic of discussion spanning recycling, sourcing and waist. Many print buyers are unaware of how much paper is still sourced from unprotected and endangered forests.

The Green Print Alliance is an instrument of transformation. A coalition of like-minded printers, we vigorously promote the use of Forest Stewardship Council, Sustainable Forest Initiative certified and recycled content papers. Our mission is to advocate sustainable practices in the print industry and help lessen worldwide deforestation.

Green Print Alliance client/members are practicing good environmental stewardship. They are reducing deforestation while replacing the very resource they use; that is sustainability at work. On behalf of those clients, we donate trees to American Forests, Global Relief Fund for every project they run. Each participating client receives a Certificate of Appreciation from American Forests, acknowledging their donation and a Green Print Alliance membership certificate. There are no additional charges associated with the program.

IKEA, an international leader in promoting sustainable business practices, has teamed up with American Forests to clean the air and sequester carbon through tree planting. The focus of the new project is to offset the CO2 emitted from cars traveling to and from IKEA stores. Each IKEA store will plant enough trees (about 33,100 trees each year) to offset the annual CO2 emissions produced by IKEA co-workers and IKEA visitors driving to the store. Global Climate Change is an issue that affects all of us on the Planet. The first step is to understand the issue and then consider taking steps to reduce our "carbon footprint" through lifestyle changes. And above all, it takes a vision to create a better everyday life for the many people." according to Anders Dahlvig, President of the IKEA Group.

More than being “green,” sustainability means that InformationWeek has a long-term philosophy when it comes to making business decisions, whether they involve attracting, retaining and motivating the best employees; serving customers; or protecting the environment. InformationWeek is leading the technology media marketplace with a 10-year plan to offset its carbon footprint. In 2009, InformationWeek launched a digital issue strategy cutting the total number of print magazines it publishes annually.

InformationWeek plants a tree for each of the first 5,000 downloads of its digital issues. Direct environmental benefits of InformationWeek’s green initiative are the elimination of the recycling and printing process, which create carbon, chemical and water reductions. In tandem with its digital “green” issues, InformationWeek has made a long term commitment to invest with nonprofit organizations that focus on the protection and restoring of damaged forests globally. InformationWeek donated nearly 20,000 trees to American Forests in 2009, and has already donated more than 25,000 trees in 2010.

InformationWeek is an award-winning business technology media brand that serves the information needs of more than 9.53 million IT executives worldwide. InformationWeek's mission is to provide IT executives with the insight they need to accelerate their business through its powerful network of magazines, websites, research and events. Interface, Inc. is a recognized leader in the worldwide commercial interiors market, offering modular and broadloom floorcoverings, interior fabrics, services and specialty products. Interface endorses sustainable business practices and strives to create a more sustainable model for industry. As a result of Interface's commitment to sustainability, the company has partnered with American Forests to offset the emissions from all business related air travel through the Global ReLeaf Program. Since 2001 Interface, Inc. has sponsored the planting of more than 39,354 trees in the Texas Lower Rio Grande Region, the Talladega National Forest Longleaf Pine Restoration Project and the California Mohave Desert Mountain Communities to offset air travel.

Interface associates also have the option of participating in a program to offset the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with their commute “to and from work.” The Cool Co2mmute™ program allows associates to purchase trees to be planted by American Forests, to offset the CO2 emissions associated with the fuel they consume. In 2004, Interface added a new element to their employee service recognition program, providing associates with the option of having trees planted to celebrate their years of service with the company, in lieu of traditional service awards like watches, pen sets and plaques. Since 2003, Interface has purchased 18,227 trees in the Texas Lower Rio Grande Region and the Forest Lawn Scout Reservation near Lake Arrowhead, CA and the Nature Conservancy’s Emiquon Preserve in Illinois for the Cool Co2mmute and Employee Recognition programs, as well as for customer mill visits/recognition programs and a Cool Carpet™ specifier recognition program.

In June 2006, 21,750 trees were purchased by the Interface companies to offset the printing of shopping bags for Interface’s booths at the 2006 NeoCon World’s Trade Fair as well as a major trade event in Asia-Pacific.

These initiatives are just a few of many that Interface is engaged in. For more information on Interface's journey to sustainability please view their online sustainability report: http://www.interfacesustainability.com.

Global ReLeaf - Groundbreaking partnership with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, WY.

The success of the partnership with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort last season was inspiring, to say the least. JHMR Passholders donated over $1100, which translated into 1100 new whitebark pine that have been planted on the border of Yellowstone National Park. Jackson Hole was the first US resort to partner with American Forests and we are proud of the results of the first year. Therefore we will continue this program and offer guests and passholders the opportunity to purchase a unique American Forests Lanyard for their lift ticket or season pass when in resort. For packages and information (including their progressive environmental policies) on Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, go to www.jacksonhole.com

Jackson National Life Insurance Company® has a long and successful track record of providing retirement solutions for its clients. With nearly $77 billion in total assets, Jackson is one of America's largest life insurance companies and a leading provider of variable, fixed and fixed index annuities.

Jackson and its associates share the view that we all have a responsibility to minimize the direct impact we have on the environment and conduct business in an environmentally friendly way. To achieve this goal, Jackson promotes activities such as recycling, reducing consumption and conserving and caring for the land that our offices occupy. One of the most meaningful ways that Jackson is reducing its environmental impact is by offering customers and representatives the option to receive some of their Jackson correspondence through e-delivery.

Jackson’s e-delivery program, called Green Delivery, not only materially reduces paper consumption, it also eliminates the need to mail some documents, thereby saving fuel and limiting pollution. When our policyholders choose Green Delivery, Jackson will donate a portion of the savings to support American Forests, a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing a healthier world. Jackson’s long-term goal is to donate up to a $100,000 in an effort to plant 100,000 trees through American Forests’ Global ReLeaf program.

Jason’s Deli is a deli restaurant chain with over 150 locations in 21 states, founded in Beaumont, Texas in 1976. Everything we serve is free of artificial trans fat. Realizing the amount of paper products we use in our restaurants, and the number of trees needed for that paper, we decided to replace trees in the world with American Forests. Jason’s Deli is currently part of the tree restoration project in the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge. 5,000 trees are being planted for this unique ecosystem, wildlife home and habitat for some endangered species. www.jasonsdeli.com

At Laguna Guitars, we know that trees are an economical, long-term solution to many of our tough environmental problems, including air pollution, water pollution, climate change, wildlife protection, habitat restoration and more.

That’s why Laguna has partnered with American Forests to grow a healthier world. With our “One Guitar, One Tree” initiative, Laguna proudly plants a tree for every guitar we make. In addition, Laguna shipping cartons are designed to provide maximum protection with a minimum of material. Boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard that are also 100% recyclable.

In the interests of conservation, Laguna doesn’t print glossy, heavyweight catalogs (millions of catalogs from various companies end up in landfills every year). A well-documented Web site and soon-to-come downloadable PDFs more ecologically serve that purpose as customers print only what they need. That way we can all save more trees, make more great guitars and plant more trees again.

Laguna invites your thoughts and ideas on the subject at www.playlaguna.com

LP Underground, the official fan club of the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park, recently joined forces with non-profit organization Music For Relief for an extremely generous donation to American Forests that will fund the planting of 100,000 new trees.

To support Music For Relief and to show appreciation to Linkin Park fans, LP Underground made a contribution to Music For Relief on behalf of its fan club members, and in turn, Music For Relief is submitting that donation to the cause that matters most to the Linkin Park fan club members. Linkin Park fans debated and voted on the cause that they thought would make the most difference in our environment. In the end, 50% of the voting members decided that they could make the greatest environmental impact by planting trees with American Forests.

With this donation, each LP Underground member is helping to plant a tree to help our environment. LP Underground’s donation of 100,000 trees will help to absorb CO2 at a rate of 13 pounds per tree per year, which totals to the absorption of 1.3 million pounds of CO2 per year. The trees will help to restore areas damaged by wildfire where critical wildlife habitat has been lost and to clean our air and water. Healthy forests filter water, remove air pollution, sequester carbon, and provide homes for wildlife. Thank you to LP Underground and Music For Relief for their astounding support for American Forests.

The Source was created in June of 2006, to supply cosmetology kits and tools to the students of the Paul Mitchell Corporate, and Partner Schools across the United States. Paul Mitchell has always had a strong commitment to the environment, and The Source wanted to keep that tradition going with the sales of our kits to the Paul Mitchell schools. Partnering with American Forests Global Releaf program seemed a natural choice. For each student cosmetology kit that The Source sells to the Paul Mitchell schools, The Source donates $1.00 to American Forests Global Releaf program to plant one tree. As our school enrollment grows, we hope to be able to plant 10,000 trees this year, and more in the years to come. Visit www.pmthesource.com to learn more about us!

TONIC partners with secular non-profits working around the globe who make huge differences in four key areas – the environment, education, health care and human rights. All of our cause partners have proven track records in what they do best, are committed to action now, and ensure that support reaches its destination quickly and efficiently.

Tonic hands over a big chunk of their revenue, 40% on average, to the people who need it most. The good news is that they're not in competition for dollars you donate to other worthy non-profits. They just sell you stylish stuff and support meaningful causes along the way. Buy a t-shirt and help build schools in India. Or send bed nets to prevent malaria in Africa. Or plant trees in our forests. See the difference you can make exercising your purchasing power.
