I’m Supporting Adam Hasner for the Senate

There are a lot of important Senate races shaping up in 2012 and my strong fear is that many tea party activists are going to be so focused on beating Barack Obama — a worthy cause — that they are going to drop the ball on Senate races.

I have not really weighed in yet on endorsing any candidates for the United States Senate, but with an every growing pool of potential candidates in the Florida Senate race, I want to go on record now supporting Adam Hasner.

Former Senator George LeCrist, hand picked by Charlie Crist to keep his seat warm, is running as are several others. I think conservatives need to be wary of many of them and we cannot afford to take Florida for granted as a Republican state.

Adam Hasner has, I think, the best background and most conservative record to run in Florida. I hope you will join me in supporting him. We cannot afford to lose Florida to either the Democrats, or the squishy Republicans.

I fully agree with your endorsement

As a Precinct Committeeman living here in Florida, I see Hasner as the most Conservative choice for Florida Senator…. and he is my choice also.

Look at what the weak, squishy, two faced, Crist-like, flip-flop Republicans are doing right now with critical budget decisions at the National level. We don’t need our next Senator to add to that

We need a strong Conservative to take Nelson’s seat. I believe that is Hasner.

Precinct Committeeman

Dear fpete13527,
Would appreciate your advising me what Precinct you represent. The reason I request this is because I sent a recent email to my three children who live in Florida (one in Boca Raton, one in Sarasota and one in Melbourne) and one of the many questions that I asked them, all of which required a yes answer, was “Do you know the name of your Precinct Committeeman and do you know the boundaries of your precinict?”
I ended my email with the statement that “If your answer is no to any one of the questions, then you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.” I have lived in France for the past twenty years and can not vote for Precint Committeemen but am pleased to note that I was an elected Assemblyman in Hartsdale in New York when I resided there.

Have forwarded your post to my children after clicking on the 5 web sites you listed for my own information. Many thanks again.

The only reason I sign off my posts as author of DARKEST TRUTHS OF BLACK GOLD is because I have a horror of inflation and Bernake’s printing presses. I believe, as I detail in my book, that I am one of the few Americans still alive that has written a personal check in the amount of C$700,000.00 for a temporary membership in the Shanghai Club in Shanghai in 1948. My company, Caltex (Texaco/Chevron), published daily price lists for gasoline in Shanghai with hourly escalations.

I quote Peter F. Drucker, among other quotes, who said, “Inflation is the systematic destruction of wealth by government.” or Pierre Beregovoy, French Finance Minister during the 1980’s who said, “Inflation, a tax which hits the poor.” and my own summing up, “It is frightening. Nay! More! It is terrifying to see your life savings wiped out by that insiduous method by which corrupt and spendthrift governments pay their bills, INFLATION.

State Representtative Adam Hasner

gatorgal Tuesday, April 19th at 8:40AM EDT (link)

Adam served in the Florida House of Representatives for 8 years and was tapped by then Speaker Marco Rubio to be the House Majority Leader.

Adam’s term ended in Nov. 2010. A solid conservative who continually got reelected in Democratic stronghold, Palm Beach County. He is formidable. He spoke at the Tea Party last weekend with Congressman Allen West. National Review’s Kathryn Jean Lopez also wrote him up on The Corner recently under the post Adam and the Eve of a new Senate race.

Great endorsement Erick!! You are always ahead of the curve.

another lawyer in the senate

just what we need

Marco Rubio is a lawyer too

Not all attorneys are bad. We’re just like every other group of humans on the planet - some good, some bad.

Check out Adam Hasner and see for yourself.

George LeCrist is a lawyer. Mike Hairdopolos may not be a lawyer but he is corrupt.

I still like LeMieux. I was happy with both his voting record and his announcements while he was in the Senate. It is unfair to tie him to Crist just because Crist appointed him (with the understanding LeMieux would not run in 2010).

LeMieux is Crist

fpete13527 Tuesday, April 19th at 6:53AM EDT (link)

LeMieux made multiple tours through Florida at the end of last year claiming his true conversion to Conservatism.

Within less than a few months after his heartfelt pleas, he voted for the Michelle Obama Government Control Food control Bill and it took him a MONTH to be torn away from voting yes on the Dream Amnesty Bill.

LeMieux will go with the most liberal vote that he can get away with. He won’t generate a Conservative stand for Florida.

LeMieux is worse than Crist

floridaknight Tuesday, April 19th at 7:30AM EDT (link)

Rick, with all due respect, this is the problem with LeMieux. Too many people don’t know the truth about him. It’s not just “because Crist appointed him.” Did you know why Crist appointed him? Because LeMieux was Crist’s brain and alter ego for the better part of 20 years. LeMieux helped Crist in all his campaigns, and he was the architect of Crist’s squishy, job-destroying policies in Florida.

At least Crist left the Republican Party and was honest enough to run as the independent liberal that he really is. LeMieux is trying to re-invent himself to win a Republican Primary so he can come out of the liberal closet at a later time.

It’s the same thing he advised Crist to do when he ran his campaign for Florida Governor.

Erickson made the right call today. Hasner 2012.

"We have to be Charlie Crist Republicans."

LeMieux was also Crist’s campaign manager and chief of staff. They are tied at the hip

Money’s not everything, but Mike Haridopolos is off to a huge start against Bill Nelson. And on top of that, he’s cutting about $4 billion in spending this year, and he’s definitely never been a squishy like LeCrist. Mike actually campaigned and raised money for Marco before Charlie left the party, which is something Gizzi got dead wrong a few weeks back over at HE.

I like Mike.

monkeysauce Tuesday, April 19th at 9:26AM EDT (link)

Yeah, Marco and Mike are good friends, and great conservatives. And if nothing else, we’ll have the most conservative delegation in the Senate AND the best hair delegation. Take THAT, Maryland.

Haridopolos a conservative? Hardly.

floridaknight Tuesday, April 19th at 9:54AM EDT (link)

Nevermind the paid Haridopolos bloggers above. If you go around to different news sites, you’ll notice that the same comments are posted again and again whenever anything critical of Haridopolos is written. I guess he is putting that $2.6 million he raised from the same Charlie Crist donors to good use.

Haridopolos may have been a conservative when he was younger, but Haridopolos endorsed Crist for Governor and sided with him again and again during Crist’s governorship.

As Senate President, he has been a disappointment. He’s achieved only symbolic victories. He has shown no leadership on immigration reform.

Haridopolos was also caught sticking pork in the budget last week for his hometown community college. http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2011-04-17/news/os-capview-column-deslatte-0417-20110417_1_budget-cuts-senate-president-mike-haridopolos-projects

His budget spends more than the House budget. I could go on and on.

And don’t even get me started on his book deal.

citruscon Tuesday, April 19th at 10:12AM EDT (link)

Uh huh. I’m guessing a balanced budget with no new taxes will just be a ’symbolic’ victory too. Good to know.

floridaknight Tuesday, April 19th at 10:17AM EDT (link)

The Florida Legislature balances its budget every year. You Haridopolos guys realize you are using the same talking points Charlie Crist used to sell himself as a conservative, right?

Haridopolos will make a great congressman, but he’s not what we need in the U.S. Senate. Nothing personal.

Balanced budget?

Dave_in_Fla Tuesday, April 19th at 10:21AM EDT (link)

What state are you living in? Last I checked we are sitting on a rather large unfunded state employee healthcare and retirement obligation.

Well I guess if we wave our hands and make some rate of return assumptions, it is balanced. Of course, Scott killing Sunrail did help the balance sheet at bit, but Mike had nothing to do with that.

Mike Haridopolos was my house rep and senator

Dave_in_Fla Tuesday, April 19th at 10:16AM EDT (link)

He’s a nice guy, but hardly a small government fiscal conservative. He got in bed with Crist, and his fingers were all over the Sunrail fiasco.

While Brevard County is heavily Republican, I’m not impressed with any of our elected representatives for their fiscal conservatism.

I don’t know Hasner, but he has my tentative support right now. Honestly, I’d support LeMieux over Haridololos right now if I had to choose.

However, if Rubio starts making campaign stops with him then that won’t be an issue.

Hasner an opportunist?

Patriot Come Lately Tuesday, April 19th at 9:42AM EDT (link)

I an vouch (yet) for the information below, so as Glenn says, PLEASE do your own research. However, I am hearing from different sources that Hasner has in the past been very much a RINO. The information being distributed is that he voted FOR High Speed Rail, and almost every tax and fee increase that occurred in the last couple of years.

If this is true, and I will give him the benefit of the doubt until proven guilty, it seems he may be trying to jump on the Tea Party bandwagon. Not the sort of person that I would trust in DC, where people are easily seduced by the DC money machine. I need a person with principles to represent me, and his support from Rubio does not change that.

Patriot Come Lately Tuesday, April 19th at 9:43AM EDT (link)

I cannot (yet) vouch for the ……….

Hasner is solid

gatorgal Tuesday, April 19th at 10:29AM EDT (link)

Your post is wrong. If you check the St Pete Times article from January it stated that Adam Hasner was “the one to watch” in the Senate race because he had the most conservative legislative record. It was Sen. Haridopolis who voted for the tax fees in the first round before it ended up in the general budget read that here:

It was in the general budget at the end of session, but Hasner’s vote on raising those fees was a No and Mike’s was a Yes.

Hasner is not a RINO but a solid conservative, he publicly went after
Gov. Charlie Crist as soon as he took a hard left in the first month of 2007 through his entire administration, including calling out Crist on numerous issues and when he vetoed the Mandatory Ultrasound bill while almost every “conservative” stayed on the sidelines and said nothing.

Senator Haridopolis in November of 2010 described the Mandatory Ultrasound legislation as “controversial”

“Incoming Senate President Mike Haridopolos (R-Melbourne) said they’re not playing politics because controversial bills dealing with abortion, education and elections are not on the override list. ”

Here is Hasner’s response to Crist’s veto immediately after the ultrasound veto, who else weighed in?

“Gov. Charlie Crist vetoes anti-abortion measure requiring ultrasound”

“Charlie Crist is becoming easy to predict: disregarding principle, previous statements or public assurances, he will switch his positions to whatever he thinks will get him the most votes,” said House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, R-Boca Raton. “He just can’t be trusted.”

Nope. Hasner's the real deal

SunshineStateSarah Tuesday, April 19th at 11:06AM EDT (link)

Adam Hasner was Marco Rubio’s teammate in the Florida House, fighting against the liberal influences of Charlie Crist.

Squishy Republicans better kown as RINO's

ihateliberals Tuesday, April 19th at 10:26AM EDT (link)

wil be the down fall of the Republican Party if we don’t get rids of them. Every state that has a Senate race in 2012 is now an automatic national election. we can afford to have local issues determine if a RINO gets elected or re-elected. The problem is tht even though they may do good things for their districts we have to look at the bigger picture to see what they are doing to us nationally. We can’t have anymore McCain’s etc being returned to the Senate. We need verified conservative Republicans.

In Florida, money is the name of the game

fsured Tuesday, April 19th at 11:02AM EDT (link)

and it’s going to take a TON of dough for any of our candidates to unseat Bill Nelson. Haridopolis is off to a great start in that department and it’s likely Hasner has a lot of work to do catch up. Maybe Erick’s endorsement will help kick things into high gear.

redtillimdead Friday, April 22nd at 2:44PM EDT (link)

He raised over a million dollars for his last re-election campaign to the state House. His wife has many connections, as she was Meg Whitman’s campaign manager. He is Jewish, so he has access to a national Jewish donor base.

Nancy Pelosi can kiss my asstroturf.

Seems pretty good . . .

WY_Cowboy Tuesday, April 19th at 11:54AM EDT (link)

Although I had a hard time with his web site (maybe it just isn’t up yet). It is really off-putting to me when I go to a politician’s web site and the first thing you land on is a donations page. I mean, I probably would give to him but not before I learn anything about him. Oh well. Minor issue.

He seems like he would fit well among Wyoming conservatives. Best of luck to him.

Thank you Erick!

SunshineStateSarah Tuesday, April 19th at 12:09PM EDT (link)

As a lifelong Floridian and a fellow early Marco Rubio supporter, I greatly appreciate you using your influence to help elect solid conservatives in my state.

Adam Hasner is the right choice - in all senses of the word - for 2012.
