What is this place?
Good question! Welcome to Aurora - my little space on the web for all of my fandom stuff. That's mostly artwork - collages, wallpapers, icons, anything Photoshop-related. I also make Photoshop resources for other artists out there: brushes, textures, and tutorials. Finally, there's a stash of some of my favorite fanfics. Most of this site was created while I was mad about X-Files, so it's largely forcused on that, but as my interests have changed, so has my art. You'll find Stargate SG-1, West Wing, CSI, and Doctor Who among others. Enjoy!
A quick update today. I was re-reading one of my favorite Doctor Who fics, Calm Before the Storm by Kalleah, and I was inspired to make a manipulation of one of the scenes, of the Doctor and Rose watching a sunrise. I know, I know, it's an incredibly corny pose, but it fits the fic! And I just love this pair. Feel free to laugh...now!
Happy New Year, everyone! 2009 has been so much better than the crap-fest that was 2008 for me, so I hope the new year has been kind to you as well. I never posted my entry for the 2008 X-Files Advent Calendar here, so I'm fixing that. It's entitled Paraselene, which means moondog (a bright spot on a lunar halo). I'm doing a little site maintenance as well, but I really need to redesign the whole site soon - I know I've been saying that for years, but I do!
Happy holiday season, everyone! I signed up for a few fandom Advent Calendars this year, so I'm forced to create. Hehe. First off is the Doctor Who entry TARDIS Christmas, a manip wallpaper of Ten and Rose. I also signed up again for DL's annual X-Files Advent Calendar (because it's tradition!) so I better get my muse in gear to create something for that. There's also a little digital painting, Searching Sun, that I created out of boredom one day. I'm still on my kick of doing as much as I can with my own resources, so it was nice to just paint with the basic brushes and see what came out. I'd like to get a Waccom tablet someday to be able to do more precise strokes. Ah, if wishes were horses. Anyways, Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, peace and happiness to you all this December!
Well, it has been a while, hasn't it? I don't make artwork that often anymore, but the bug still hits every once in a while. This time I have two offerings - the first was in celebration of the new X-Files movie, I Want to Believe. The second was made recently, in honor of my newest obsession, the british sci-fi hit Doctor Who. It's also my first attempt in a while at a full-fledged manipulation, and I'm fairly proud of it, I must say. It's based off of a scene in the fic "Journey's Beginning" by Doctorhil, featuring the Doctor (actually the human-Doctor from Journey's End) and Rose in a hot spring. It all makes sense if you read the fic, trust me. ;) Anyways, that's all for now. Free hugs to everyone out there and thanks for stopping by!
I must say, I never thought I'd get back into The X-Files as my main art subject! With the new movie actually being made, my fledgling flirtation with CSI suffered an early estrangement, and I'm back to my first and greatest love. I've had the idea of a manipulation flying around in a head for a while, and with the great E, Erin, Exduck celebrating her birthday today, I finally just bit the bullet and did it. It's not the best manip, but as a dying art, I'm glad I've still got some skill at it. The screencap is from Krisnreine, and inspiration is split three ways - Erin herself, the amazing XF fic "An Alluring Indiscretion" by beduini, and Le Baiser de l'Hotel de Ville by
Robert Doisneau. Oh, and a healthy mixture of U2's "With Or Without You" and "Where the Streets Have No Name". Whew!
