Senior Legal Counsel - Competition Lawyer

An International Organization with global scope wishes to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel specialized in Competition Law. The position is based in Geneva, Switzerland and reports to the General Counsel who reports directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain current knowledge of developments in competition law on a global basis
• Provide internal legal advice on competition law matters to a global organization providing a range of goods and services. This will require assessment of risk and the identification of alternative business strategies.
• Communication with senior management in writing and in person, in both formal and informal settings.
• Administer an aggressive compliance program with competition law matters as a key component.
• Establish and maintain excellent communications and relationships with competition authorities in key jurisdictions.
• Consult on competition law litigation, including potential participation as an amicus in industry issues.
• Drafting and/or editing memos, internal briefing papers, or legal briefs.
• Establish and maintain excellent communications and working relationships within the company to ensure that advice is sought by internal clients when needed as well as with external stakeholders such as government regulators.

Qualifications/ Experience:

• Law degree from a well-recognized law school; strong undergraduate academic record.
• Current member in good standing of a national bar.
• Minimum of six years experience in the practice of law, with a specialty in competition law matters especially in the EU; Prior experience as an in-house lawyer would be preferred.
• Experience in multiple jurisdictions applying different competition laws preferred.
• Expertise in the transport/aviation sector an advantage
• Direct responsibility for the analysis of competition law issues in a business context.
• Extensive client counseling contact; experience in creation and administration of compliance programs
• Legal budget preparation on individual matters.

• Ability to quickly learn new business environment
• Ability to recognize and operate effectively in various cultural settings
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Fluent in English; any other language skills are an asset.
• High energy, creativity strongly desired
• Ability to function as a part of a business and legal team
• Ability to make complex legal concepts accessible'
• Extensive travel is required.
