The Onion, America’s Finest News Source, is looking for a confident, assertive, and experienced Sales Manager to take on the challenge of our local newspaper and website. An extensive knowledge of the DC market and surrounding area is required. The most competitive candidates will display a strong understanding of the Onion’s unique brand and readership. 5 years minimum experience selling print media advertising in the local market required. This is a terrific job for a highly motivated Sales Manager with demonstrated skills and hands-on sales experience.

The candidate will be responsible for advertising sales activities, both print and online, with new prospects, development of agency/client relations, preparing and presenting proposals, and closing business.

Key Responsibilities:

Sell sell sell! New management is taking over the publication in DC, increasing circulation and expanding the market presence, this is a great opportunity for an experienced sales person to work independently with new management to grow the publication and earn your worth. Your role will be to re-build the client base, cultivate new business, educate potential clients about the unique brand, planning and promoting events, co-sponsorships, etc.
