Osama, Obama…

U.S. commandos knew bin Laden likely would die

Brennan said the commandos were prepared to capture Obama alive, but they knew that was a remote possibility.

It should say… to capture “Bin Laden” alive. That should be fixed.

St. Pierre turns hockey-mad Canada into MMA mecca

While such a statement borders on treason in hockey-mad Canada, White’s boast cannot not be simply dismissed with St. Pierre set to headline the biggest mixed martial arts event ever held in North America Saturday at a 55,000 seat Rogers Center that sold out in a matter of hours.

That should be “Rogers Centre” not “Rogers Center.” For a large Canada-based news organization, that type of mistake shouldn’t happen…

Five women brutally murdered in Mexico beach resort

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Five women, all apparently connected to a beauty parlor, were found brutally murdered in the Mexican beach resort of Acapulco on Saturday morning, state police said.

The semi-naked and bound bodies of two women and a 14-year-old girl were discovered in the salon in the early hours of Saturday morning. All three had their throats slashed.

Police later found the corpses of another two women with cut throats dumped in the streets. Mexican media said both victims worked at the beauty parlor. No motive was given for the killings.

Royal wedding snapshots: Naked Kate, but no glitter balls

In particular, courtiers are said to have shuddered over her suggestion to erect glitter balls in the throne room where a post-weeding breakfast disco is going to be held. Public-spirited organizers are throwing 5,1000 street parties with Streets Alive, a community relations group, estimating that each will cater for between 80 and 100 residents.

This article lists an editor at the bottom. What exactly does “editing” mean?

Not all Palin supporters?

Palin returns with feisty, anti-establishment speech

MADISON, Wisconsin (Reuters) – Conservative Sarah Palin returned to the U.S. political arena on Saturday after several months absence with a feisty speech attacking both the establishment Republican Party and Democratic President Barack Obama and proclaiming “the 2012 elections begin here.”

In a move apparently aimed at keeping her name in the running for the Republican nomination in next year’s presidential election, Palin addressed several thousand people in Wisconsin, a state bitterly divided by a political fight over union rights.

If your article on Ms. Palin’s recent Wisconsin stop is representative of Reuters degree of accuracy, objectivity and comprehensiveness in reporting, Reuters will not be on my list of reliable news sources.

Indian state election expected to end Kolkata’s 34-year communist rule

As dawn broke on Monday, scores of voters formed queues outside one unopened booth, excitedly showing their identity cards to security personnel in Siliguri, 370 miles north of Kolkata. Once one of the richest cities in Asia and the capital of the British empire in India, Kolkata has become a byword for poverty and has stumbled behind the new modern India of IT cities such as Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Can you please justify your comment on the article – “Kolkata has become a byword for poverty.” Since when this has happened, I would really like to know.

Critics chime in on Lady Gaga’s latest single

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Lady Gaga has done it again. The singer, whose lyrics like to toe the controversy line, released “Judas,” the latest track off of her new album Born This Way on Friday — a few days earlier than its originally scheduled April 19 drop date.

It appears the author and editor misunderstand the meaning of the idiom “toe the line.”

It’s a surprising error from such a well-regarded news source.

Ignoring Canada?

Allies vow no halt to campaign until Gaddafi goes

Washington, which led the campaign in its first week, has since turned over command to NATO and taken a back seat role. Britain and France complain that other NATO allies have not provided enough fire power to take out Gaddafi’s armour and allow the rebels in control of the east to sweep him from power.

Once again you have omitted Canada’s contribution to the Libyan conflict.

It is my understanding that at the present time we have 12 F-18 fighters, 2 air refeulers and 2 long range patrol Aurora aircraft, as well as a Navy Frigate participating in this conflict.
