Fabian Picardo MP

Fabian is an adviser to corporate entities around the world and across a wide variety of sectors. He is a member of the Bar in both Gibraltar and the British Virgin Islands and is able to advise on legal issues in respect of both these jurisdictions and to provide opinions on Companies incorporated in both.

He advises large, real property owning clients on international structuring as well as recently advising on the AIM flotations of companies in sectors as diverse as financial services, mining and online gaming.

Fabian is a Member of Gibraltar's Parliament and is Shadow Minister for Financial Services, Telecommunications, The Media and the Environment.

Recent examples of Fabian's work include:

- advising on the corporate structuring aspects of the largest property transaction in the EU last year (4bn Euros);
- advising numerous companies, trusts and trustees on structuring of debt and asset finance;
- ongoing advice to shareholders of one of the fastest growing financial services business in the UK;
- advising Gibraltar shareholers on sale of business to major international internet portal;
- structuring transaction in natural resources sector involving assets in African jurisdictions;
- successfully arguing against the Secretary of State for Defence in his action regarding MOD housing; and
- representing majority creditors against Rock Financial Services Limited (In Compulsory Liquidation) and working with the Provisional Liquidators (PWC partners) appointed to successfully exit the liquidation maximising client benefit.

He also advised on the setting up Gibraltar's first internet search engine and online news service.

Fabian has appeared in all Gibraltar Courts, the Privy Council and the European Court of Human Rights. He speaks regularly in Parliament on the technical aspects of legislation introduced by the Government. Each year he attends the UN IV Committee and the UN Committee of 24, with the Leader of the Opposition.

Fabian was schooled in Gibraltar and graduated in Jurisprudence from Oriel College, Oxford Univeristy in 1993. He attended the Inns of Court School of Law at Gray's Inn and was called to the Bar in 1994. He is a member of the Middle Temple and of the Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party.
