County burn ban extended
Kingfisher County commissioners extended the burn ban Monday, but with fire dangers expected to peak again this week and with the memory of last week’s fires in Harrah still fresh on their mind, they got a bit tighter with the restrictions.

Agricultural burning and outdoor grilling are not allowed this week, they decided at their weekly meeting.

“What happened last week really scares me,” Commissioner Keith Schroder said. “And I don’t like the looks of things this week.”

Temperatures are expected to be above normal and winds are projected to be high all week.

For those reasons, only welding, cutting and torching are exempt in this week’s ban, but only when a spotter is used.

The burn ban will be revisited at next Monday’s county commission meeting.
