At Popknits, we’re offering businesses the ability to reach a special niche knitting audience, knitters who love vintage and retro styled garments. Popknits will publish 2 issues per year and advertising rates are based on the cycles that correspond with issue launches (excepting the News Blog.) There is also the opportunity to advertise on the Popknits News Blogs which is updated regularly between and during issues.
Popknits will only accept ads that are within the fiber world realm. You must host your own ads and update them when they are out-of-date. Ads must be images (GIFs, JPEGs, or PNGs), Flash ads are not accepted. Sorry but Popknits does not offer advertising design services. Popknits will provide click-through statistics at the end of your advertising cycle with us so that you can see how well your ad did or you may view our site statistics at any time on your own.

Rates are subject to change. Availability is first-come first-served and you are not locked into your ad space until payment is received in full. Payment is by PayPal only in US dollars. No one advertiser may buy more than 3 slots in one section.

This area of the page, though below the fold, is viewed often due to its placement near the Popknits mailinglist signup and search field.
Patterns Landing Page – The patterns landing page will be one of the highest trafficked areas of Popknits during a current issue release. It will have a list of available patterns for the current issue as well as short descriptions of each pattern and a thumbnail. The ad space on this page will be below the pattern list and above the light blue bottom footer. This area of the page, though below the fold, is viewed often due to its placement to the left of the archives navigation and above the Popknits mailinglist signup and search field. Once patterns hit the archive, your ad will follow them there indefinitely.
Articles Landing Page – The articles landing page will be the second highest trafficked area of Popknits during a current issue. It will have a list of current articles for that issue as well as a short description of each with a thumbnail of supporting imagery. The ad space on this page will be below the articles list and above the light blue bottom footer. This area of the page, though sometimes below the fold (depending on the number of articles in a given issue), is viewed often due to its placement to the left of the archives navigation and above the Popknits mailinglist signup and search field. Once articles hit the archive, your ad will follow them there indefinitely.
Individual Pattern Page (Sponsored) – Starting for our Winter 2008 issues, there will be the chance to sponsor one to two patterns per issue by a yarn company. The pattern will be picked by the Popknits editorial staff and paired up with a sponsor. The sponsor will provide the designer with yarn* and the pattern will be knit with that yarn for that issue. In addition, the yarn company will have the advertising slot available on this page which will be located to the right of the pattern in the patterns’ navigation sidebar, below the pattern information and navigation. This ad will be static (meaning you not share this space with any other advertiser.) Once your pattern hits the archive, your ad will follow it there indefinitely.
* up to $100 wholesale. If you would like to provide yarn that costs more than $100 wholesale, please speak to the Popknits’ Advertising Editor.
Individual Pattern Page (Yarn-Only Sponsored) – Starting for our Winter 2008 issues, there will be the chance to provide yarn for a pattern from a yarn company or LYS. The pattern will be picked by the Popknits editorial staff and paired up with a sponsor, or the designer may choose to initiate the yarn transaction with their LYS. The sponsor will provide the designer with yarn and the pattern will be knit with that yarn for that issue. In addition, the yarn company will have a mention at the end of the pattern similar to “Yarn for this pattern provided by NAME OF COMPANY OR LYS (with link)”. The advertising image slot available on this page will be part of the individual pattern ad rotation. This mention of your yarn donation will be static but you will share the page with other advertisers. Once your pattern hits the archive, your sponsorship mention will follow it there indefinitely.
Individual Pattern Page (Non-Sponsored) – There will be several patterns per issue (4 to 8 patterns) that will not be sponsored by a particular yarn company. The advertising slot available on this page will be located to the right of the pattern in patterns’ navigation sidebar, below the pattern information and navigation. Ads will rotate across all non-sponsored patterns. Once patterns hit the archive, your ad will follow them there indefinitely.
Individual Article Page – The advertising slot available on this page will be located to the right of the article in articles’ navigation sidebar, below the article information and navigation. Ads will rotate across all articles. Once article hit the archive, your ad will follow them there indefinitely.
News Blog – The news blog is the most affordable space for advertising. Rates are per month and ads are not archived. Advertising space will appear to the right of the news space under the news blog archives navigation on all news blog pages.
