A subreddit for the discussion of material related to games (but not sports). Video games tend to be the main focus, but submissions related to other types of games (board games, role-playing games, CCGs, etc) are also welcome.

Submissions about all games are allowed, but many popular games have their own subreddits where you may find a more receptive audience. For example, Minecraft, StarCraft, Team Fortress 2 and World of Warcraft all have extremely active subreddits. Please see ReaverXai's Individual Gaming Subreddit List for a comprehensive list of more-specific subreddits.

Posting Rules

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting: [X kills Y!](/spoiler), which will show up in your post like this: X kills Y!. Posts containing spoilers without using this method (except in clearly-labelled threads) should be reported.
  • Don't beg for people to give you games, trial-codes, etc (except in giveaway threads). This includes posts like "I don't have any money but I'll draw you a picture if you buy me <game>".
  • Don't post users' personal information.

Submission Rules

  • Please try to submit the actual source of the information. reddit is already an aggregator, there is no reason to submit other aggregators (gaming blogs) unless they add significant original content or analysis, not just quote or re-word the actual source.
  • If your main purpose in visiting reddit is to submit articles from a site you are associated with, you are spamming. The general idea is that submissions to reddit should be made by redditors, not site owners. For more information on this, please see the "What Constitutes Spam?" section of the reddit FAQ. If you'd like to promote your site on reddit, please look into the self-serve advertising (promoted links) system.
  • NSFW submissions must be labeled.
  • Links related to piracy and online gambling are not permitted.
  • Please don't do this sort of thing (shamelessly stolen from /r/pics).

If your submission satisfies these rules but still doesn't seem to show up, it's probably nothing personal, the gaming spam-filter is just extremely aggressive and removes many submissions automatically. Don't delete your submission, that will make the filter hate you even more. Message the moderators with a link to your submission, and ask us to let it through.
