The Awards trophy is solid stainless steel and takes three months to manufacture. Hall of Fame inductees receive the same trophy with gold plating.

ARIA Awards trophies are manufactured by Northside Patternmakers.

The trophies awarded in the early years were designed by renowned music industry identity, Philip Mortlock. Philip commenced his career in the music industry as an artist and for a number of years was one of the key designers in the art department at Warner Music before progressing to become a senior executive at that company. Philip is now the Managing Director of Origin Recordings.

In 1988 the ARIA Board considered a number of new designs for the Awards Trophy and selected a design by Mark Denning, who at the time ran his own design company, as the basis of its new trophy. The current design has been in use since 1990 and is based on Denning's original design.

ARIA acknowledges Mark Denning's role in designing the Awards trophy and since 2002 each award includes a design credit acknowledging his contribution.

Mark Denning now heads MDG Design Pty Ltd, located at M04/2 Elizabeth Plaza, North Sydney NSW 2060 Australia. Mark can be contacted on 02 9922 7733, email or on the web at
