IDW's Gem-Award Triple Crown
For the third straight year, independent publisher IDW has been awarded the
Gem Award for Publisher of the Year Under 5% Market Share. The annual award,
presented by Diamond Comic Distributors, represents the best vendors within the
industry and nominees are selected by a panel of product specialists on the
basis of their overall impact on the industry.
In 2005 alone, IDW was
able to relaunch the Transformers (after Dreamwave closed its doors) and
breath new life into Joss Whedon's Angel property with several successful
mini-series' and one-shots. In addition, three of their 2005 releases -
Doomed, Smoke and Heartbreaks Meet Boilerplace - were all
nominated for Eisner Awards.
