In the last months, our johnkerry.com community has faced up to the toughest issues of our day, the issues some people in Washington are afraid to tackle -- from the war in Iraq to energy independence and global warming, to health care for every American, the right to dissent, and real security instead of the false politics of fear.

You have stepped up and demanded real leadership – and you’ve put your money where your mouth is by providing record amounts of support to our Democratic candidates this fall, starting with the Fighting Dems – proud veterans running for office to change Washington.

Below are just some highlights of what you – the johnkerry.com community – have achieved over the past year and a half:

A Deadline for Iraq

Hundreds of thousands of you in the johnkerry.com community have shown your support for our plan for Iraq. You signed our petition and urged your Senators to stand with us. With your help, we stood up to the Bush Administration’s aimless and failed course in Iraq.

Protecting the Environment

The johnkerry.com community mobilized immediately to fight this political maneuver. Over 48 hours, you called your Senators and together we succeeded in preventing the bill from moving forward until the proposal was removed.

Defending our Values: Alito Filibuster

All we had to do was read Judge Alito’s record to know what would happen if Judge Alito became Justice Alito. We called upon the johnkerry.com community to support a filibuster. Your response was overwhelming. 350,000 of you signed your name to our letter opposing Judge Alito.

The Fighting Dems

I want the Republicans to have to stand face to face on the floor of the House and Senate and be forced to debate veterans who have been there. It will elevate the dialogue in our country, it will change the voices in the conversation.

Kids First

More than 500,000 people have signed on as "citizen cosponsors" in support of Kids First at johnkerry.com and nearly 20,000 people across the country have called into Kerry’s “Give Voices to Our Values” phone hotline to record their powerful, personal stories.
