(a) Lake View finished 1st in 4-team division A round robin playoff; Calumet finished 2nd in division A and won game with winner of division B for rights to 2nd place. Lake View beat Calumet, 40-17, on January 15.

STATE TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION

1908-26: Public League teams did not belong to the IHSA and did not participate in the state tournament.
1927-31: Public League teams began joining the IHSA and were seeded into district tournaments. The league championship was decided independently.
1932-33: The two Public League finalists were seeded into sectional tournaments. The league championship was decided independently.
1934-36: The four Public League semifinalists were seeded into sectional tournaments. The league championship was decided independently.
1937-55: The Public League champion was seeded directly into the state finals (Sweet Sixteen). In 1941 the league refused to send a representative.
1956-71: The Public League champion was seeded directly into the super-sectional game (Sweet Sixteen).
1972-2002: The Public League championship game was considered a Class AA super-sectional game, with the winner seeded directly into the state finals (Elite Eight).
2003-present: Public League teams were seeded into regional tournaments. The league championship was decided independently.
