The Journal of Palestine Studies was the first publication to carry the English translation of Gamal Abdul Nasser’s memoirs of the 1948 war. The late Egyptian president began publishing his memoirs of this period in the Egyptian weekly Akher Sa'a in 1955, shortly after a massive Israeli raid on Gaza, which was then under Egyptian administration.
