Spiritual Life

Consistent with its Mennonite identity, Bethel College welcomes students from all traditions and faiths. With half our students coming from backgrounds other than Mennonite, we welcome the mix and regard our diversity as a strength and an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth. Bethel is intentional and proactive in providing opportunities for students to listen to others with diverse points of view on any number of issues, particularly as they bear on spiritual life and practice.

The welcoming community of Bethel affords students a safe place to explore different ways to think about and worship God, to form a caring community, to serve and witness to others locally and around the world, and to express their peace and faith convictions in faithful and effective ways. When graduates leave Bethel, they meet the world better equipped to serve God and God's people wherever their calling, whatever their occupation.

Chapel services, convocations, campus ministries, vocation seminar for Bible and Religion majors, and our distinctive "book-end" courses (College Issues Colloquy for first year students and Basic Issues of Faith and Life for seniors) provide healthy challenges and new insights for students of all backgrounds and faith convictions. As students' values and understandings of faith and praxis are both stretched and edified, students find themselves challenged to form a theology that brings them into a deeper relationship with God, that enlarges their respect and understanding of others, and that equips them for work and service in the world.
