Who's next?

That was the question on everyone's minds in 1997 as the explosive rookie known as Goldberg smashed his way through everyone on the World Championship Wrestling roster.

Those hoping to see the former NFL pro suffer his first loss would have to spend a long time waiting. From September of 1997 until December of 1998, Goldberg did not lose a single match and earned an unbelievable record of 173-0. During this historic undefeated streak, the Atlanta native beat sports-entertainment legends like Hulk Hogan, Big Show and Curt Hennig and won both the WCW United States Championship and WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Utilizing his two signature maneuvers, the Spear and the Jackhammer, Goldberg possessed an incendiary mix of raw power and wild intensity and seemed unstoppable.

This amazing winning streak would eventually come to a disappointing end, however. On December 27, 1998, Kevin Nash defeated Goldberg at Starrcade after Scott Hall zapped the big man with a stun gun. The loss would not deter the competitor for long and by 1999 he was back to his winning ways, mowing down a long list of intimidating opponents, including Bam Bam Bigelow, Sid Vicious, Lex Luger and Scott Steiner.

After WCW was purchased by WWE in 2000, the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion began to compete in Japan where he again experienced major success. But it would be three long years before the WWE Universe would finally see Goldberg enter a WWE ring. On the March 31, 2003 edition of Raw, the powerful Superstar made his highly anticipated debut, leaving an immediate impression by spearing The Rock. This confrontation led to a showdown between the two icons at Backlash with Goldberg coming out on top.

In the following months, the brute continued to dominate the competition, smashing Chris Jericho, Christian and many others on a warpath to the top of WWE. To get there, however, Goldberg would have to get through Triple H, which is a lot easier said than done. Goldberg found this out at SummerSlam in the Elimination Chamber when The Game defeated him after a vicious sledgehammer shot.

The powerhouse would get back at The Cerebral Assassin one month later when he beat him for the World Heavyweight Championship in a hard-fought battle at Unforgiven. The victory would be the biggest of Goldberg's WWE career and he would actively defend the title for three months before losing it back to Triple H at Armageddon in December of 2003.

Although the popular Superstar's WWE career would not last much longer after this match, he did have one last memorable rivalry with the equally powerful Brock Lesnar. The two beasts locked horns in a true slobberknocker at WrestleMania XX with Goldberg pulling off an impressive victory.

This final bout of the former World Heavyweight Champion's WWE career, the contest cemented Goldberg's legacy as one of sports-entertainment's most destructive individuals, despite being active for less than a decade.

In the years that followed, Goldberg remained in the public eye with hosting duties on television shows like "Bullrun" and multiple appearances as a contestant on Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice."
