Universal has set Mary Harron to direct Wicked Lovely, the Vince Vaughn-produced adaptation of the Melissa Marr novel series. The pic revolves around a young teen named Aislinn, who has seen dangerous faeries her entire life but has managed to survive by adhering to a strict set of rules that have kept her safe ... until now. The 17-year-old finds herself torn between a seductive Faery king and the mortal she loves, and she must go against everything she was taught in order to confront a world she was raised to fear. Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands) wrote the script. Vaughn, Victoria Vaughn and Peter Billingsley are producing for Wild West Picture Show Productions. Marr has written four books in the series, and the fifth and final title, Darkest Mercy, was published in February.
Harron just directed The Moth Diaries with Lily Cole, Sarah Bolger and Scott Speedman. She's repped by WME and D/F Management.

What happened to the super talented Kimberly Peirce?
She’s a woman, that’s what happened to Kimberly Peirce. Years between projects, if you can even get another project going. That’s the business, boys.
Kim Peirce being a woman had nothing to do with why Pierce is no longer directing the project. there are other factors as to why she’s not directing the film.
I didn’t know she had been attached to direct it. I thought he was making a general statement. My bad. But I do stand behind my statement that for women directors it is often many years between projects. Props to Mary Harron who works her ass off and then some to keep from being one of the sad statistics.
Yeah, she got dumped cause she a woman, must be why they replaced her with a woman. Shoot, they’ll probably drop her because she’s a woman too.
Faeries? Stop, it hurts to laugh.
These are not your average fairies.
