Just after 1pm AEST, the American pop star, 31, wrote: "We are ecstatic to welcome our new beautiful healthy happy baby girl, Willow Sage Hart. She's gorgeous, just like her daddy. #beyondblessed."

It is the first child for Pink and her husband of five years, motocross star Carey Hart.

Pink, whose real name is Alecia Moore, gave birth by caesarian at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, RadarOnline reported.

Earlier yesterday, she hinted via the micro-blogging site that the birth was imminent, writing: "New Moon in Gemini today :) a good time to start something new.... Also called the Honey Moon. #intoit."

The Who Knew singer and motocross racer Hart, 35, were married in 2006. The pair separated in 2008 but began dating again and went to marriage counselling, which led to a reconciliation.

Announcing her pregnancy on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in November, Pink said the doctor had told her she was having a girl.

"My mum has always wished me a daughter just like me," Pink told host DeGeneres. "I'm terrified one of us will go to jail," she joked.

When asked by DeGeneres why she waited so long to confirm the baby bump rumors, Pink said, "I didn't want to talk about it because I was just really nervous and I have had a miscarriage before."

As for whether the baby was planned, she cheekily said, "I worked for it. ... It was not an 'oops'."
