Match winner Michael Ballack says he is delighted to be playing The FA Cup Final at the new Wembley on 19 May.
The German midfielder hit the winner in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory in extra time over Blackburn after Jason Roberts cancelled out Frank Lampard’s opener.
Ballack featured in the last ever game at the old Wembley when Germany beat England 1-0 and says he is excited about playing in the first cup final at the new stadium.
He said: "It is good for me to go back there. You could say I played in the last game and now the first game there so I am pleased.
"I am very happy to be in the final of course. We played well, but it was hard work because we didn’t control the game very well at times.
"They came back well into the game and has some very good chances. Then they scored and they had a very good chance after that when they hit the post. They were unlucky and in the end we are pleased with the result.
"We played really well at the start and it was good football. Maybe after that we did a little bit less after the fist thirty minutes and they came back into the game and then they got a goal.
"I hope I can score some more. In recent weeks we have scored some important goals and it is great for us to be in the final. I am happy for the team and the fans. Everybody wants to play at Wembley."
Ballack reserved special praise for Chelsea’s giant keeper Petr Cech who pulled off a string of good saves to frustrate the Blackburn strikers.
"He is very good in the air and very strong," he added. "He is very good when we are one up and the other side start to play long balls into the box because we know he will come out. He is a very good keeper."
