Top 30 Japanese Video Games 04/13/03

Our weekly rundown of what's hot in Japan for the week ending April 13, courtesy of Famitsu magazine.

Here are the top 30 best selling games in Japan for the week ending April 13, courtesy of the editors and marketing research types at Famitsu magazine.

In an otherwise slow week for new releases, the fourth and final volume of Bandai's .hack game series was the clear winner on the sales charts, with 86,000 copies sold in its first week. All four .hack volumes have sold somewhere around the 100,000 mark in its first week, but they've been very, very long sellers. In fact, if you put the four volumes together as one game, then .hack has sold over 700,000 copies all told in Japan. It couldn't have happened to a nicer developer, either.

.hack Volume 2, by the way, comes out May 6 in America. It'll be followed by Volume 3 in August and Volume 4 in November.
