Wii U will be Nintendo's next home console, it has been revealed.
The successor to the Wii will feature touch-screen controllers that can stream entire games.
The Wii U controller will feature a microphone, gyroscope, touch screen, traditional control buttons and an inner camera, which can also be used for video chat.
The device features a 6.2 inch screen, while the console itself will be compatible with current Wii controllers.
A demonstration revealed that players would be able to switch between playing games on the TV or on the controller, if, for example, somebody else wanted to watch the television.
Other examples saw Wii Fit being used only with the controller, used as a play space for board games, and as an inventory screen for The Legend of Zelda.
Nintendo revealed that it is working on a new Super Smash Bros. game for the Wii U and 3DS.
Other titles coming to the Wii U include Batman: Arkham City, Tekken, Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon Online and Darksiders 2.
Wii U will be available to purchase in 2012.
