American Zemke joins BSB Evo grid

The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship grid will be boosted by a second Californian rider from next weekend's round at Knockhill as former American Superbike contender Jake Zemke jets in to the UK to join the WFR Honda team in the BSB Evo series.

Zemke finished third in last year's American Superbike Championship and has celebrated success in the USA across various classes in recent seasons with victories and podium finishes in addition to setting the pole position this year for the Daytona 200 race and winning the 2008 Formula Xtreme Championship.

Zemke will join Glen Richards and Graeme Gowland in the team and will make his debut in BSB next weekend at Knockhill when he will race again on Honda machinery, the manufacturer that has took him to Stateside success spanning ten seasons before switching to Suzuki last year.

Zemke said: "I'm delighted to be coming to the UK at last and starting the next chapter of my career. I have always been an admirer of BSB and have wanted to race here for quite some time so I would like to thank Team WFR who have made that dream a reality. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to their exciting Evo project at Knockhill and racing against some of the best riders in the world at the remaining rounds of the season."

Team Manager Myles Schofield added: "It's great to have someone of Jake's experience on board. He is a class act and has been full of enthusiasm since we fist spoke to him several weeks ago and although it might take him a bit of time to familiarise himself with some of our circuits I know Jake is confident of springing a few surprises. Jake will fly in at the weekend and we have arranged a day of testing for him later that week so that he can meet the rest of the team and get some time on the bike before heading straight to Knockhill."

The next round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship takes place at Knockhill next weekend (17-19 June). For more information visit or call 01383 723337.
