'Get It?'

Ted Mays of Gecko Books & Comics in Honolulu, Hawaii shares his thoughts on the upcoming DC reboot (see "DC Renumbering All Titles" and "DC Revising Characters in Reboot").

On June 1, the day of the "Big DC Announcement, mall stores had merchandise with the new logo design and costumes for the new Justice League.  Stop for a minute and think about that.  Get it?  DC has been working and planning this for quite a while, and this gives me much more confidence about the changes ahead.  When DC made the "Hold the Line" announcement, I was thrilled to have a response whenever a customer asked, "Why are the Bendis Avengers $1.00 more than other Avengers?" or "Does Uncanny X-Force come out EVERY week?" or "$27.00 for this week's X-Men pile?  I'm done with collecting..."  The nay-sayers here who complain about the $2.99 price costing them money?  Wow.  DC is not RAISING prices, nor are they REDUCING prices (and yes, I would be happy to get another $1.00 out of Batman, Inc.).  Retailers complain that their customers don't want a reason to "drop" titles, but are unhappy that DC doesn't flood the market and overcharge like Marvel?

Wow.  DC has carried this industry on it's back for quite some time now, while Marvel goes in all directions, floods the stands with garbage, has to be sued to honor sales terms, and constantly attempts to mislead us in their catalog descriptions to fool us into ordering reprints, handbooks, and file stories.  Is that really how you guys want to operate?  Foisting $7.99 Marvel con-jobs on your customers?  I will be celebrating 25 years in operation in February, and that NEVER would have happened without DC.
