Japandroids Plot North American Tour

Amped-up Vancouver fuzz-rock duo Japandroids are back to wreck a few more stages. In late August, they'll take their frantic live show on the road through North America on a tour that includes more than a few Canadian dates. Bass Drum of Death, another noisy and excitable two-man unit, will open most of their dates. Below, we've got Japandroids' touring itinerary, as well as a download of their 2010 single "Heavenward Grand Prix"

Get ready for a night packed full of soaring indie rock melodies. TV on the Radio, touring hard all year behind new album Nine Types of Light, have just announced another run of North American dates. For many of those shows, they'll bring along another festival-conquering group: Canadian guitar-fuzz battalion Broken Social Scene.

TVOTR will also play a massive Hollywood Bowl show in September with Arctic Monkeys, Panda Bear, Smith Westerns, and Warpaint. And, lest we forget, TVOTR will also serve as headliners at next month's Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.

Below, we've got dates for both bands, as well as TVOTR's video for "Will Do".

R.I.P. Producer Martin Rushent

The BBC reports that British record producer Martin Rushent died on Saturday. He was 63.

Rushent was best known for working with synthpop greats the Human League on their blockbuster 1981 album Dare. After that album blew up, Rushent won the Brit Award for Producer of the Year in 1982.

Jónsi: "Tornado (Fuck Buttons Remix)"

Abeano points out that UK noise mongers Fuck Buttons' remix of "Tornado", a cut from Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi's solo album, last year's Go, has been made available for streaming on Jónsi's Soundcloud. The remix originally saw release in April as part of the Record Store Day remix EP Go Out. Listen above-- and of all the Jónsi songs, doesn't it make perfect sense that Fuck Buttons chose to remix the one that's called "Tornado"?

In other news from the Roots, ?uestlove recently told Billboard that the next Roots album will be "our first full-fledged narrative concept album." He added, "It's going to be heavy on sort of orchestral chamber music with harder beats in it." They hope to have the album out by late this year or early next year.

The-Dream Plans New Album

The-Dream Plans New Album

Complex reports that R&B auteur The-Dream plans to release his fourth solo album, the confusingly titled The Love, IV (Diary of a Mad Man), on September 20-- his birthday. Earlier this year, The-Dream told MTV News that he's attempting to round up a star-studded guest list for the LP, including Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Drake, Mary J. Blige, and Dr. Dre. Complex reports that the first track, the R. Kelly collaboration "T.T.S.", is due soon. (Something tells me that doesn't stand for "text to speech.")

Over the weekend, Bat for Lashes played a pair of shows at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia as part of the Vivid Live Festival. During one of those shows, she trotted out an unidentified new song, which was characteristically slow-burning and atmospheric. Below, we've got a fan-made video of that song, as well as another performance from that show, of her cover of Radiohead's "All I Need".
