Samsonia Sutra et al. 2001, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Samsonia erythrinae Sutra et al. 2001.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Samsonia, named after the French phytobacteriologist Re!gine Samson, INRA, Angers, France, who works on pectolytic Erwinia.

Samsonia erythrinae Sutra et al. 2001, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain CFBP 5236 = ICMP 13937.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AF273037.
Etymology: L. gen. n. erythrinae, of Erythrina, referring to plants of the genus Erythrina, family Fabaceae, from which the organism was isolated.
