This webpage is a review of the VH1 Primetime Animation Special thing that's been playing on VH1 lately a lot around the time that I am writing this. It's a bunch of clips of primetime (aka, "adult") cartoons with a bunch of talking heads being interviewed about it. I don't feel like explaining it anymore, just watch it. It's VH1, they'll play it again and a-goddamn-gain forever. I'm reviewing it here because it had a lot of stuff about Adult Swim in it.
As much as I hate Adult Swim now and want to hate this special, I didn't. It's actually a little bit interesting. A few parts sucked though. Like for example, during the Space Ghost bit, they'd play awesome and hilarious clips of Space Ghost, and then they'd have a montage of 10 different people going "SPACE GHOST WAS A SUPERHERO IN THE 60'S, AND NOW HE'S A TALK SHOW HOST." Well holy Jesus shit! Now that I know that, I have a huge boner! Thanks, douchebags! But the fact that everyone in that clip was a dumb jackass doesn't detract from the fact that they actually played a handful of clips from Space Ghost, which is just a little bit more than you can say for the actual Adult Swim these days :(
The other thing that sucked about that special was the Harvey Birdman part. They literally circle jerked for at least 5 minutes over Shaggy Busted. What a bunch of jag-offs. Do they realize that they're not the first person to make the connection between Shaggy and stoners? "HAHAHA, SHAGGY HAS THE MUNCHIES ALL THE TIME, STONERS DO TOO, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT UNTIL NOW!!!" The writer of Birdman said something like "We felt it was our moral duty to put it all out there." Yeah, because no one has ever realized that Shaggy has a beard and rides around in a van until that episode of Birdman aired. Shitheads.
Other than that, it was still an entertaining watch. There really wasn't anything "new" in the special, the only new thing were some clips of Schooly D and the ATHF crew singing the theme song. I would have liked to see more unseen stuff, like they talked about the original unfunny Sealab pilot, why not play some of it? It also could have used some more Trey and Matt, and some Mike Judge. This special had clips of Space Ghost Coast to Coast, the original South Park Spirit of Christmas short, and the Cornholio episode of Beavis and Butt-head. Nothing can have all of those things and totally suck. If Fooly Cooly had just one of those things, I would have hated it 500% less.
