Georgetown, KY (Sports Network) - Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson returned to the practice field on Monday.
He had been sidelined since undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle on June 18.
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said that Johnson will be eased into the workout routine, and there is a possibility that he will play in the preseason opener on August 11 against Green Bay.
Johnson has had a roller coaster offseason, pushing to be traded from the Bengals. However, he reported in time for minicamp, although he didn't participate fully in any of the practices.
A five-time Pro Bowl selection, Johnson had 93 receptions for a career-high 1,440 yards and eight touchdowns last season when the Bengals finished with a 7-9 record.
