ISPWP Wedding Photography Contest Gallery | Summer 2011 | Kids Will Be Kids

I was accepted into the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP) in June and took part in their recent quarterly contest. I am happy to announce that one of my images was given a 1st placing under one of the contest categories. I hope to have more winning images in the contests again. Big thanks to all the couple who trusted me with their wedding day photography, without your support, all these awards will not be possible.

Joshua + Siew Fung: A Church Rehearsal

Today’s post is something different from the usual wedding photos that I usually post. Joshua and Siew Fung wanted me to cover their church rehearsal at Paya Lebar Methodist Church instead of the usual engagement shoot I do for my couple as part of their package. It was my first time shooting at PLMC. The lighting at the church is quite challenging but yet somehow it gives an interesting color tone to the photos. Here are some of the photos taken last week. I look forward to covering their wedding tomorrow:

Bernard + Cai Hong

Bernard & Cai Hong engaged me and my team to provide Instant Print service for their wedding banquet yesterday. Their guests were one of the most enthusatistic crowd I have seen so far. Many were approaching the photographer for their photos to be taken and waiting to collect their photo cards. Before the wedding reception, I took some photos of their ROM ceremony alongside the official photographer at the hotel so that it can be projected onto the screen for sharing with the guests. Here are some of the photos in B/W to share:

Before & After

Taking a break from editing photo, so I thought I post something on my blog since its been a long while anything new was posted. I am going to show the before and after of an image I worked on. Its really shows how some simple edits to a photo can really makes the difference.

So start off with this original out of the camera photo. This image was shot at the couple’s wedding day. Obviously its looks funky right?  The couple has this bluish tint to them. This is because my assistant was holding a LED light to lit the couple. But definitely this was not the final image I had in mind, but the idea is there

So few tweaks in the raw converter and Photoshop, below is something I came up with. Much better than the above photos but there is still room for improvement.

Here is the final image which probably I will return this version to the couple. I might tweak it further but only after I finished the entire series and look through the photos again.

Ryan + Sharon E-Session

One thing that worries me as a photographer is always the weather. Sometimes whether a shoot goes ahead or how well the shots turn out depends on the weather, especially for me as a available light shooter. Poor weather usually results in the shoot being cancelled or postponed. This was almost the case for Ryan and Sharon engagement shoot. We were supposed to do this shoot at 10am. But it was pouring so heavily that it really dampen the enthusiasm I have before the shoot. So I asked them whether they would like to reschedule the shoot but to my surprise, they decided to go ahead. To be honest, I was already de-motivated as bad weather usually meant poor lighting and its always a big challenge. To my surprise, as I was reaching the shooting location, the weather started to clear till the point we have blue skies. It was that kind of O_o moment.  Here some shots taken.
