IMPAC Steering Committee Meeting Minutes

Friday, February 27, 2004
LAX Radisson Hotel
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Members present: Mark Bender, Kara Caldwell-Freeman, Dan Chang, Robert Cherny, Jan Frodesen, Martin Flashman, Tom Krabacher, Diane Mayne-Stafford, Mary Nolan-Riegle, Barry Pasternack, Peggy Renner, Herb Strauss, Mark Van Selst, Mark Snowhite, Shaaron Vogel and Don Warner and Anthony Zambelli.

A. Reports
Executive Director Adams reminded members that while the current IMPAC grant does not require it, she had volunteered to send all the CAN descriptors currently under consideration to the CSU Chairs. She then provided members with the status of their responses and commented that the deadline for responses is March 31. In addition to asking the Chairs to provide feedback on the descriptors, they were also invited to attend the IMPAC Statewide meeting to discuss the CAN descriptors. It was agreed that the chairs from several disciplines would be able to meet together prior to the IMPAC meeting.

B. ICAS Update
Adams informed members that ICAS has accepted the IMPAC Annual Report and that the ICAS Chair will prepare a letter to accompany the report.

CSU Chair Cherny updated members on the status of the CSU proposal discussed at the January 30, 2004, Steering Committee meeting. ICAS members will consider the proposal at its next meeting including possible changes to the IMPAC grant language. Adams commented that ICAS would also discuss the current status of CAN as well as consider future funding for the IMPAC project.

C. Statewide Meeting
Members discussed the planning for the Statewide meeting and requested that the format and the information presented be changed. By consensus, the three Lead Coordinating Faculty members (Pasternack, Snowhite, and Strauss) will meet with the Executive Director to finalize the agenda based on comments at this meeting. The draft agenda will be circulated via email for feedback.

D. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. By consensus, the Lead Discipline Faculty members will meet the night before the Statewide meeting.
