RSS Feed (Really Simple Syndication)

RSS is an easy way for you to keep updated on the news. You can keep track of the fresh headlines on CTV.ca News by using RSS (which stands for Really Simple Syndication) for constant updates.

CTV News now offers RSS feeds (or channels) for most of its most popular sections (see above offerings)

How can I make use of RSS?

You may already have RSS set up in your browser, on your blog or on a web-based personalization page.

When you're ready

Internet Explorer 7 or higher

  1. Click the CTV.ca feed of your choice.
  2. A yellow box appears. Follow the on-screen directions to place a live bookmark in your favourites menu.
  3. Access the CTV.ca feeds daily by clicking on the Favourites Center icon (yellow star) and selecting "Feeds".

Firefox 2 or higher

  1. Click the CTV.ca feed of your choice.
  2. A yellow box appears. Follow the on-screen directions to place a live bookmark on links bar.
  3. Access the CTV.ca feeds daily by clicking on your new live bookmark buttons.

If this doesn't work for you...

You might need to download program called a News Reader. This displays RSS information feeds from your chosen websites on your computer.

How do I get a News Reader?

There are a range of different News Readers available, many of which are free to install. Different News Readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to take this into account when you make your choice.

Here are some options

For IE, a Microsoft roundup on readers

Bloglines, a simple web-based reader

Mac OS X: NetNewsWire

CTV.ca feeds in the RSS format are provided free of charge for use by individuals for personal, non-commercial use. You may not place advertisements in or around our headline feeds.  If you would like to incorporate CTV News headlines into your own website using our RSS feeds, you may do so as long as you abide by our License Agreement.
