A picture's worth a thousand words, sure. But a well-timed action hero one-liner is worth ten thousand bullets. And 19 spear guns. To the face.

The catchphrase is arguably the most important accessory in an action hero's arsenal, just ahead of sleeveless commando vests and never-ending ammo supplies. The movies have given us a ton of action heroes, and a sh!@-ton of one-liners to go with 'em. From Bond to Ahnuld, here are some of our favorite verbal death blows.

Line: "Dead or alive, you are coming with me."

Alex Murphy keeps a hand cannon holstered inside his robo-thigh. He deserves a blunt force trauma of a catchphrase to go with it.

Line 1: "Gotta be asking yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?'. Well, do ya, punk?" (Dirty Harry)

Often misquoted but never outdone, this line cemented Clint Eastwood as an all-around badass, not just a badass cowboy. It was so good, in fact, that Eastwood used two variations of the line in the same movie.

Line 2: "Go ahead. Make my day." (Sudden Impact)

It's shorter and more efficient than his classic Dirty Harry threat, but no less menacing.

Line (300): "THIS. IS. SPARTA!!!"

The yelling and slow delivery aren't enough to sell this line. You have to punctuate it with a kick that sends a man falling down a bottomless abyss.

Line: "Yippee ki yay, motherfu!@#$!"

Wrong place, wrong time McClane, in between killing terrorists with feet smaller than his sister's, found time to utter this pearl. This line is the closest approximation to poetry ever attempted in an action flick.

Line: "Get away from her, you bitch!"

Ripley, in Power Loader mode, says this line before battle royale-ing with the Alien Queen. Going against the grain like this is problematic, but the Warrant Officer pulled it off, earning her death-by-airlock kill for the second time.
