Jessica Valenti doesn’t understand the Streisand Effect
Is it fair for Register-Her.com to exist? The Atlantic tells us that it’s the “End of Men.” Women already kvetch and attack men’s reputations on Don’t Date Him Girl. There’s no need for free speech to be “fair,” since its mere availability levels the playing field. This new website fills a void in beating back the myth of intrinsic female virtue, though. I clicked around to see what the site was about and found that each article is a recitation of sourced, cited and publicly available information. In some cases, the women profiled in the articles are described in their very own words. While the site was designed to be provocative, it was not created with the intent to hurt those named within it for the sheer purpose of inflicting pain.

Policies that allow women to commit violence-by-proxy do not target only conservative men, or redneck men, or men who own firearms. They target all men, from the farm labourer to the army cadet to the sociology student. The resistance to feminism, naturally, comes from all sections of society, from the bottom rungs to the upper echelons. How else do we imagine a man – of any political persuasion – to respond, when he witnesses self-identified feminists cackling over their power to deprive men utterly of everything that makes life worth living? (And then, without pausing for breath, reaffirming their preferred metanarrative of female victimhood and male privilege.)
One accusation
One accusation from a woman has destroyed this man’s career. One accusation from a woman has made this man a criminal in the public eye. One accusation from a woman has put an electronic tracking bracelet around this man’s ankle. One accusation from a woman has placed this man under armed guard where he sleeps. One accusation from a woman is draining over two-hundred fifty-thousand dollars of his money every month. One accusation from a woman has brought all of this turmoil down on this man and the worst part of it is the most sickening.

When people follow your lead and give you their time and energy because they respect you, now, that is strength. When people do what you want because you complain till the sound of your voice is like fingernails on a chalk board? Well, that’s what we call just being a bitch.

One of the sites is called “A Voice for Men” while another is called “Anti Misandry — Curing Feminist Indoctrination.” Other such websites include or are maintained by National Coalition For Men, Fillerfund.com, and The False Rape Society.
