BEATS ON THE BEACH

Beats on the Beach brings you a broad line-up of local, regional and international talent for four fantastic nights of live music on the beach at Abu Dhabi Corniche. Don't miss a host of local, regional and international stars including The Beat, Melissa, Nancy Ajram, Fares Karam, US superstar Kelis and Jamaican sensation Sean Paul. Watch from the water if you have a boat, or just relax on the sand and enjoy these eclectic, entertaining and electrifying concerts.

Beats on the Beach runs on Al Sahil Beach from November 10th through to the 13th.

This Yasalam event is free, no ticket required, just turn up and enjoy the fun!

Getting to Beats on the Beach

There will be a free park and ride service operating on Abu Dhabi Corniche throughout the Yasalam programme. Buses will run from 10am through to midnight daily from the lagoon parking near Spinneys to Al Sahil Beach on the Corniche.

10th Nov - Clarita de Quiroz (UAE)

Classically trained pianist, percussionist and vocalist, her music incorporates styles such as Nina Simone, Al Green, The Roots, Angie Stone and Jill Scott. Raised in Scotland, born to Filipino/Spanish and Dutch/Irish parents, even her heritage is a colourful mix of influences. Performance starts 7:15pm

10th Nov - Melissa (Lebanon)

Mariam Chehab, born in South Lebanon in 1982, popularly known as Melissa, was able to catapult herself to stardom in what today’s industry is considered “a short time“ achieving a degree of success that is unimaginable to most artists. Performance starts 8:05pm

10th Nov - Kelly Rowland (USA)

Kelly Rowland is a founding member of the group Destiny’s Child, one of the best-selling recording artists ever. Billboard calls the group “one of the greatest musical trios of all time” and inducted them into the ranks of All Time Hot 100 Artists. Her third album, the first on the Universal Motown label, is due this Fall and features the #1 U.S. Dance hit “Commander.”

10th Nov - Chipmunk (UK)

The Tottenham (London) teenager has already achieved a MOBO Award and at 17 years old is a permanent fixture at the top of the charts. He has had millions of hits on YouTube and MySpace, was one of the UK’s biggest breakthrough artists of 2009 and has just completed his first headline tour with a second booked for this summer. 10th Nov - Ahmed Al Sherif (Tunisia)

Ahmad’s Arab Music World showcases his unique style. His first album “Beyn il Nas” received public acclaim and sold more than 100,000 copies. The hit summer song “Sahran Ma3aki il Leyla” was an instant success as it filled the Arab dance floors with unique musical composition and Tunisian beats. Performance starts 11:40pm

11th Nov - Shو? (UAE)

This band was pulled into the limelight by its unique Ska style. They have been influenced by an amalgamation of different genres of music and strongly influenced by music from around the world. Beginning as a small splash in Dubai’s underground music sphere they are now making waves as the band’s following expands. Performance starts 7:15pm

11th Nov - Rola Saad (Lebanon)

After two stunning albums, Rola has seized the public’s eyes and ears with her tuneful and original songs. She works with the likes of Kahlid Tag, Bahaa Edeen Mohammed, Amr Mostafa, Jean Marie Riachi, Tony Abi Karam and many others. Performance starts 8:05pm

11th Nov - The Beat (UK)

The Beat hailed from working class, industrial Birmingham, England in 1979, a time of social, political and musical upheaval. The band crossed fluidly between soul, reggae, pop and punk, and created an infectious dance rhythm. Along with their contemporaries The Specials, The Selecter, and Madness, The Beat became an overnight sensation and one of the most popular and influential bands of the British ska movement. 11th Nov - Melhem Zein (Lebanon)

Out of appreciation for his great talent, his great voice and his great performance of the song “Endak Bahriya”, fans gave Melhem the title of “Al Rayess”, turning him into a star. His first hit single “Alawwah” was an instant success and his traditional Lebanese style of music captures the attention of all ages. Performance starts 10:25pm

11th Nov - Sean Paul (Jamaica)

Sean Paul is a Jamaican Grammy winning reggae/dancehall artist who is the former lead vocalist of the Dutty Cup Crew. In 2000, Sean Paul released his debut album, Stage One with VP Records and has been experiencing one success after the next ever since. A global star on the sands of Abu Dhabi. 12th Nov - Kamal Mussalam (Kuwait)

Kamal Mussalam’s musical interest and inspiration stems from time spent in France where he developed an interest in jazz and created his own playing style inspired by the works of Pat Metheny, Miles Davis, George Benson, John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola and many others. Performance starts 7:15pm

12th Nov - Beat Antenna (UK)

Voted best rock band in Dubai by Time Out readers in May 2009, this band is making waves. Their debut EP, released in April 2009 has received recognition from all corners. They have supported The Charlatans and Arrested Development, which has acted as a catalyst for these fresh and energetic lads from the UK. Influences include The Rolling Stones, The Verve, Joy Division, Oasis, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Silversun, Pickups, Kings of Leon, Paul Weller and Jack Daniels. Performance starts 8:05pm

12th Nov - Sophie Ellis Bextor (UK)

This pop starlet has worked with an array of artists including Freemasons, Greg Kurstin, Calvin Harris, Cathy Dennis, Metronomy, Richard X and Armin Van Buuren. Her music is a mixture of mainstream pop, disco, nu disco and 1980s electronica. She recently returned from supporting Take That on their sellout world tour. 12th Nov - Fabolous (USA)

Growing up in Brooklyn in New York City. Part of his early popularity arose from his hit single "Can't Deny It" in 2001, from his debut album Ghetto Fabolous. Fabolous has released five albums, which have collectively sold over three million copies in the United States, including The album debuted at number one on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart (number two overall) and spawned a series of singles, including the Top Ten hit "Make Me Better" featuring Ne-Yo. Two years later the hit single "Throw It in the Bag" landed on his album Loso's Way, a loose, conceptual full-length inspired by the film Carlito's Way. Performance starts 10:25pm

12th Nov - Nancy Ajram (Lebanon)

Nancy Nabil Ajram is a multi-platinum Lebanese singer. In early 2003, Ajram rose to instant fame with the success of her lead single “Akhasmak Ah” and her third studio album, Ya Salam, which was a best-seller. The release of her music videos “Ya Salam” and “Sehr Ouyouno” introduced Nancy’s vocal abilities to the world. Nancy is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. 13th Nov - Absolace (UAE)

Absolace is a metal band and the brainchild of drummer Greg Cargopoulos.They are developing their artistic impulses as part of their boisterous rise to prominence in the scene. This is only the first chapter in their promising musical career. Performance starts 7:15pm

13th Nov - Cyrine Abdel Noor (Lebanon)

Cyrine’s singing career was launched in 2004 as she released her first album “Leila Min Layali”. Cyrine received praise for her debut album as well as the two video music clips “Leila Min Layali” and “Erga3 Tane” she filmed with director Caroline Labaki. 13th Nov - Easy Star All Stars (USA)

Combining musical versatility instrumental prowess, beautiful vocal harmonies and a superb rhythm section, the Easy Star All Stars established themselves as one of the top international reggae acts with their live debut in 2003. 13th Nov - Kelis (USA)

This Grammy-nominated singer songwriter debuted in 1999 with Kaleidoscope, which featured the ubiquitous MTV/BET hit “Caught Out There”. She tops the Billboard Club/Dance Songs chart again and again, taking “Acapella”, the lead single from her album Flesh Tone to number one. Over the past 10 years, she has worked with a wide variety of artists, including The Neptunes, Andre 3000, Björk, Enrique Iglesias and Raphael Saadiq.Perhaps best-known for her top 5 smash Milkshake, Yasalam is delighted to bring this multi-million selling artists to Al Sahil Beach.
