Kentucky-Louisville football game not selected for TV

The SEC has released its football games that (so far) have been selected for television, and Kentucky-Louisville is not on the list.

Four games featuring conference members have been selected for Sept. 17, but not Louisville at Kentucky.

The four are:

  • Auburn at Clemson, noon, ABC
  • Ole Miss at Vanderbilt, 12:21, SEC
  • Tennessee at Florida, 3:30 p.m., CBS
  • Navy at South Carolina, 6 p.m., ESPN2
The UK-Western Kentucky opener on Sept. 1 will be televised from Nashville on ESPNU. It’s a 9:15 p.m. kickoff.

A real sports rivalry: Michelle Beadle vs. Erin Andrews

Michelle Beadle

Michelle Beadle

Alabama-Auburn. Lakers-Celtics. Yankees-Red Sox. Calipari-Pitino. Now add Michelle Beadle-Erin Andrews to the list of great sports rivalries. That’s according to the new ESPN tell-all book, written by James Andrew Miller and the great Tom Shales. (I’m sure Miller is great, too.) Deadspin has put its hands on an advanced copy and posting excerpts with a passion. Some of it is very interesting inside baseball. But the Beadle vs. Andrews rivalry is a real head-turner about two real head-turners. Seems Ms. Beadle doesn’t care for Ms. Andrews, who has returned the favor. Beadle even admitted to the book’s authors that she watched the infamous Andrews peephole video.  Personally, I’d  give “The Beadle” a break. She has to work with Cowherd every day.

Media Approval Ratings: Dan Rieffer

Dan Rieffer

Dan Rieffer

On the Wednesday edition of media approval ratings, we present WTVQ’s Dan Rieffer, who is the station’s weekend anchor. Dan joined the station in January of 2008, and according to his station bio began at age 16 as  ”a disc jockey at an AM country radio station in Williamsburg, Kentucky.”

A personal note about Dan: He’s not afraid to ask tough questions. And he didn’t hold it against me — not to my face, anyway — when I once referred to him as Dave on the blog.

What say you abut Dan Rieffer, approve or disapprove?

Drumroll please — Media Approval Ratings are back.

We haven’t offered (most of) the local media up for judgement since 2009, and with the dog days of summer just up ahead, we can’t resist the urge to do it all over again. We will do one approval per day.

We’ll start with the TV guys, and with WLEX-TV’s Alan Cutler. The New York native has had a couple of turns at the local NBC affiliate. He’s been at Channel 18 since 1987 in his second stint.

So what do you say on Alan Cutler, approve or disapprove?
