Rewrite the Michigan Constitution?

Michigan voters, in a little over three weeks must decide from either starting from scratch and rewrite the state constitution or to leave it as it stands.

This proposal appears on the ballot every sixteen years since our current version was adopted in 1963, due to the contents the Michigan voters are given this chance for a new constitutional convention to convene.

Secretary of State Candidate Scotty Boman said that, “Don’t be Con-Conned. The make up of the convention would resemble the legislature. The Michigan constitution has been amended on several occasions by citizen initiatives precisely because the legislature has failed to comply with the wishes of the majority of voters.”

PolitiFeed Becomes Two-Man Show

YPSILANTI, Mich. - Government-focused weblog PoltiFeed added a new writer, Aaron Murdoch, to its team today, in hopes of expanding its writing capacity and frequency of posts.

Murdoch is a senior at Eastern Michigan University and intends to put his love and curiosity about government to the ultimate test - teaching it to blog subscribers through weekly posts.

"I’m trying to learn about what is going on in our current political climate," Murdoch said, "I don’t want to be bashed over the head with another person’s opinion. At this point in my life I would just like the facts and make a decision for myself, therefore that's what I have decided to help do for you [the reader]."

PolitiFeed covers a wide variety of government-related issues and the addition of a fresh faced contributor can only expand the selection of subjects readers will find in the site's posts.

"When it comes to politics my interests are varying and unique but I do love a good election..." Murdoch said, "Hopefully, you guys [the readers] will enjoy my writing, or at the very least find it informative."

Posts from both Murdoch and Matt Lane, the sites founder, will become more frequent in the weeks and months to come.

Stay tuned.
