Eminem will probably lead the U.S. pop album chart for a sixth week when sales data are issued next Wednesday. None of this week’s new releases are expected to dethrone his two-million-seller “Recovery.” He also continues to show great staying power in European markets, returning to No.1 again on Billboard’s European Albums chart.
Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” led Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart for a fifth week on Thursday, a day after the rapper logged a sixth round atop the albums chart with “Recovery.”
He is set to return to his hometown of Detroit, Michigan, to host a rap contest in the style of the famous hip-hop battle in his semi-autobiographical movie “8 Mile”. Emhas signed up to host a freestyle rap contest called the “Red Bull EmSee: The Road to 8 Mile National Finals”, which will see eight aspiring stars compete against each other in scenes similar to the hit 2002 film, reports thetimesherald.
The finalists, who have been picked from regional heats across the US, will perform in front of the superstar, who will then decide the winner. The event wil be held at Detroit’s St. Andrews Hall Aug 26.
