CES: All the stuff you can't buy yet and the stuff you can't afford

January 6, 2006 |  7:13 am
A sneak preview of the Playstation 3 video game console and televisions with screens larger than 100 inches are some of the highlights being reported from the Consumer Electronics Show. The Las Vegas Review -Journal quotes a rep for Panasonic's 103" screen as saying: "I don't know the price, don't know when it will ship." However,  LG Electronics has a display of a 71" plasma screen that is available now for a mere $70,000: less than 1,000 an inch if you think about it one way or if you are like me you think that's more than a luxury car --crazy!

Tale of Two Conventions

January 5, 2006 | 12:07 pm

There are two huge conventions going on in Vegas this week.  The International Consumer Electronics Show, at which the gadgeting world unites, and the unlink-to-able Adult Video News Show, that is, the porn awards.  Both of these are enormous events in town for opposite but related reasons and I'll be filing reports from both through the weekend.
