Take That ‘X-Men’!

Posted Fri 13 May 2011 13:11 BST by Ben Gilbert in Hot New Tunes
Welcome to Yahoo! Music's weekly round-up of the latest and best new music - five songs you'll be hearing a lot more of over the coming days. Check out our suggestions in tracks, downloads, leaks and links below and let us know if you think they're going to fly or die.

Take That 'Love Love'

It looks like the intergalactic bombast of Take That's last album, ‘Progress', was no joke. Their latest single, an exclusive track set to head-up the new ‘X-Men: First Class' movie, is another pop-opera stormer which confirms that the return of Robbie Williams has launched this band into another stratosphere. Debuted at the National Movie Awards on Wednesday night, all you need is ‘Love Love', people. (Watch it here)

Lady Gaga ‘The Edge Of Glory'

It says much about the changing face of contemporary chart music that Lady Gaga's fans are being drip-fed material from her new album, ‘Born This Way', on a weekly basis. ‘The Edge Of Glory' follows hot on the heels of ‘Judas' and is already arrowing towards the UK top 10, further building anticipation around her hyped follow-up to ‘The Fame'. Just one question: Who let the saxophone in? (Hear it here)

Rihanna ‘California King Bed'

"How come when I reach out my finger / It feels like more than distance between us?" warbles Rihanna. It's a fair question but she should be grateful for such healthy sleeping arrangements. A man could lose himself in this epic bed. In fact, he could squirrel four or five ladies under the duvet without her even noticing. Given the heartbreak at this song's core, that would push her over the edge. (Watch it here)

Cee Lo Green ‘Thank You'

Despite having already hit number one across the world, earning platinum status in numerous territories and even proving a hit for Gwyneth Paltrow during her turn in ‘Glee', Cee Lo Green's smash is far from finished. He's recorded another take, intended to raise money for volunteer firefighters and featuring a specially adapted tune and lyrics. Amazingly, it seems this pop blaze is still far from out. Kate Bush ‘Deeper Understanding'

She may have kept an enduring distance from the forces of industry in a unique pop career but Kate Bush's new single does at least address the modern world. Ironically enough, the original version of ‘Deeper Understanding', which recounts one man's love for a computer programme, came out on 1989 album, ‘The Sensual World'. Set to feature on new collection, ‘Director's Cut', she remains a one-off. (Watch it here)
