Martin Osuna-Aguilar, 23

Martin Osuna-Aguilar, a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed by police on Monday, June 27, in the 8900 block of Atlantic Avenue in South Gate, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

A confrontation between South Gate police and Osuna-Aguilar occurred at 2:04 a.m. at a motel parking lot. During the conflict, shots were fired, said Sgt. Michael Thomas of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Osuna-Aguilar died at the scene, Thomas said.

The identity of the South Gate officer who shot the fatal round was not released.

Los Angeles County sheriff's investigators will investigate and turn the results over to South Gate police and the L.A. County district attorney's office.

Dean Camacho, 48

Died June 26, 2011 at 7:26 p.m.

9449 San Fernando Road

Dean Camacho, a 48-year-old Latino, died Sunday, June 26, in the 9400 block of San Fernando Road in Sun Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Camacho was a patient at a mental health facility when he was killed, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

The victim was attacked by another patient and suffered multiple sharp force injuries to his neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:26 p.m.

Authorities arrested the attacker, Jerry Romansky, and charged him with murder, said LAPD Foothill Det. J. Martinez.

Romansky, a 27-year-old white man, is being held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility downtown.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 12 at North Valley Municipal Court in San Fernando.

Marcus Robinson, 18

Died June 26, 2011 at 3:15 p.m.

15750 S. Haskins Ave.

Marcus Robinson, an 18-year-old black man, was fatally shot Sunday, June 26, in the 15700 block of South Haskin Avenue in West Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Authorities were notified of the shooting at 2:26 p.m. They did not know whether more than one shooter was involved.

Robinson and three others were shot, officials said. All of the victims were taken to a hospital where Robinson was pronounced dead at 3:15 p.m.

Coroner's records show he suffered gunshot wounds to the left side of his torso, arm and back.

Authorities said the others had injuries that were not life-threatening.

Dajon Daniels, 18

56th Street & Chestnut Avenue

Dajon Daniels, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, June 26, near 56th Street and Chestnut Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 11:35 p.m. and found Daniels wounded and down on the street, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

The victim was taken to a hospital for his injuries but died less than an hour later.

During the investigation, authorities learned Daniels had just left a party at a nearby home when he got into a fight with a group of black men.

At some point, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Daniels several times, officials said.

The gunman fled on foot after the shooting.

Authorities believe the shooting may have been gang-related.

Shawn Bryant, 22

Shawn Bryant, a 22-year-old black man, was fatally shot Friday, June 24, in the 11000 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Bryant was approached by a person about 12:27 a.m. and was shot several times.

Authorities were called and Bryant was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:50 a.m.

Winter had no other details about the incident.

William Quiros Jr., 32

12853 S. Prairie Ave.

William Quiros Jr., a 32-year-old Latino, was fatally shot by a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy Thursday, June 23, in the 12800 block of South Prairie Avenue in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies were on patrol about 7 p.m. when they spotted Quiros, who authorities said was a known gang member and parolee. They turned their car to talk to him, but he got into a car and refused commands to get out, said Sgt. Diane Hecht.

"Suddenly the suspect got out of the car and began fighting the deputies," Hecht said.

During the struggle, one deputy felt Quiros’ waistband and felt a weapon, according to authorities. At least one deputy then shot Quiros who died at the scene.

A handgun was recovered, authorities said. One deputy who was struck in the face was treated for bruises.

Silberio Ibanez, 18

Silberio Ibanez, an 18-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Wednesday, June 22, in the 700 block of East 23rd Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ibanez was riding his bike about 10 p.m. when he was shot several times by an unknown person, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called and the victim was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he died less than a half hour later.

Mario Vanegas, 45

Died June 22, 2011 at 10:00 p.m.

3800 W. 27th St.

Mario Vanegas, a 45-year-old man, was shot and killed by police Wednesday, June 22, in the 3800 block of West 27th Street in Jefferson Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a call at 9:30 p.m. about a man with a possible weapon, said Rosario Herrera, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

When police arrived, a teenage girl, later identified as Vanegas' daughter, was yelling from a residence.

Police entered the residence and Vanegas charged at them with a knife, Herrera said. They responded by firing at him.

Vanegas was hit several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Officer Cesar Aranda,  Officer Brian Schneider, Officer Jose Gonzalez and Officer Leonardo Olea.

The LAPD Force Investigation Division is handling the officer-involved shooting investigation.

Phillip Walters, 16

Phillip Walters, a 16-year-old black teenager, was shot and killed Wednesday, June 22, in the 11600 block of Daleside Avenue in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said residents in the area heard gunshots about 11:15 p.m.

When authorities arrived, they discovered Walters down with several gunshot wounds to the head, torso and right leg. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Winter said.

Alan Mateo, 19

Alan Mateo, a 19-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Wednesday, June 22, in the 1500 block of Louella Avenue in Venice, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

According to police and eyewitnesses, a gunman shot Mateo, Salvador Diaz, an 18-year-old Latino, and another person shortly after 4 p.m. at Penmar Park.

Mateo and Diaz died shortly after the shooting. The third victim was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition.

The incident occurred in a grassy area near a recreation center and a baseball diamond, an eyewitness said.

A witness who arrived at the park about the time of the shooting told The Times the attacker jumped into a car, perhaps a silver Volkswagen station wagon, where a driver was waiting and fled.

The shooting prompted officers to lock down the recreation center, where small children were playing, said Lt. Jeff Bert of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The children were later reunited with their parents. Bert said the shooting appeared to be gang-related. Officers found several shell casings in the area.

Six days after the shooting, authorities arrested Michael Mariscal, a reputed gang member, in connection with the killings.

"He is the shooter," said Capt. Jon Peters, commander of the Pacific Division, which patrols the area. "He intended to shoot these individuals.... He is a documented gang member."

Mariscal, a 19-year-old Latino, is being held on no bail at the Men's Central Jail in downtown. His next court appearance is scheduled for July ...

Ismael Villegas, 21

Ismael Villegas, a 21-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Wednesday, June 22, in the 5800 block of South 2nd Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Villegas and his girlfriend were walking in an alley about 2:20 p.m., when a man described by witnesses as a Latino in his 20s walked up, asked Villegas his gang affiliation and shot him several times, according to an LAPD news release.

After the shooting, the gunman ran to a parked car and drove away, police said. The car was described as a dark-colored sport utility vehicle with a female passenger who was between the ages of 18 to 23.

The victim was taken to a hospital  but dies less than an hour after the shooting, coroner’s records show.

Craig Walker, a 26-year-old black man, was fatally shot Tuesday, June 21, in the 1500 block of West 102nd Street in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Walker was shot several times about 1:30 a.m., said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office. He was taken to a hospital in Torrance, where he died at 4:24 a.m.

Winter said the shooting was possibly gang-related.

Pablo Ortiz, 35

Died June 21, 2011 at 8:00 p.m.

2141 E. 14th Street

Pablo Ortiz, a 35-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, June 21, in the 2100 block of East 14th Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ortiz was shot about 7:30 p.m., officials said.

Officers found the victim, and paramedics rushed Ortiz to a Long Beach hospital, where he died at 8:30 p.m.

Long Beach homicide investigators believe Ortiz was riding his bicycle on the street when he was confronted by an unknown person who fired at him.

Investigators said the motive for the shooting is unknown and is still under investigation.

There are no known suspects.

Bryan Olmos, 1

Died June 20, 2011

700 block of Harding Avenue

Bryan Olmos, a 1-year-old Latino, was pronounced dead Monday, June 20, two days after he suffered trauma in the 700 block of Harding Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The child sustained multiple injuries at a residence, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Sheriff's homicide Det. Louie Aguilera, who is handling the case, said Bryan lived at the home with his mother and several other people.

The residents said he began having trouble breathing. They alerted authorities, who took the child to Beverly Hospital in Montebello for treatment.

Due to the extent of his injuries, Bryan had to be taken to Miller Children's Hospital in Long Beach.

Aguilera said Bryan suffered blunt force trauma to his body and he was unable to recover. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital on June 20 at 3 p.m.

Investigators said there was no indication of previous injuries and the family had no history with the Department of Children and Family Services.

Aguilera said it was clear someone intended to harm the child; however, no arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
