mentalhealth

One in four of us will have some sort of mental health problem in our life. This means there are millions of people in Britain who are either encountering problems themselves or know someone else who is experiencing them - the University has plenty of fantastic services on offer and UPSU are here to advise you where you can turn if you need some help.

Mental Health Advice

housing

Most students live in halls for their first year at Portsmouth, but increasingly as our community grows first years are joining the rest of the undergraduates living in and around the city. Whether you're in a flat on your own or a house share with 5 people you'll find some helpful advice for your stay here in Pompey.

sex

Sex is not simple. There aren't always easy answers. Here at your Union we're pulling together the facts and we're more than happy to be blunt and honest about having sexual experiences whilst here at Portsmouth. For most Students' it's their first time away from home, mixed with plenty of the opposite sex (or similar sex depending on your preference) and a good sloshing of alchol can often mean you guys are having plenty of sexual relationships - we're not here to tell you what to do, but more give you some advice if you need it.

finance

There are hundreds of costs which come with being a student. It's important to develop your own method of budgeting and even more important to stick to it! Remember it is important to make your money last especially as the students loan company pays out just three times a year at the start of each term. Why not work out a weekly budget based on your income?

Look after your money

drugs

Here’s the straight dope: if you’re going to do drugs, you’re going to do them and there’s probably not much we can do to convince you otherwise. Right? Even if they are dangerous, or if they cause huge health risks, screw up your friendships, working relationships and family life, eat into your savings and put you in debt, cause you to look and feel like a dog’s breakfast, give you the most depressing comedowns, make it difficult to have sex, cause you to babble on like a retarded buffoon, get you into trouble at work or school and POSSIBLY KILL YOU, don’t let that stop you, oh no. And consider this: if you get caught here is a list of the maximum penalties under British law for the possession and supply of drugs.

How will drugs affect you
