Scarab Studio Films is an award winning and resourceful production company operating out of Richmond, Melbourne.

With a background in broadcast and web doco’s, we’ve progressed swiftly and with accolade to short and feature films, music videos and tvc’s.

2009 was a big year for Scarab, with two feature films, Blind Company and Shadowplay, premiering internationally and with our short film Two Men chalking up a Dendy Australian Best Short Film nomination at Sydney Film Festival and enjoying tremendous reception worldwide in addition to being sold to SBS TV. Director Dominic Allen also won the prestigious 2009 Melbourne International Film Festival Emerging Australian Filmmaker award and the 2009 Inside Film Rising Talent award. Our music video for Sudanese rapper Bangs, Take You To the Movies took off, literally so far reaching multi in the millions of hits on Youtube.

Recent months have seen us team up with the talented guys Dave Budge and Ty Johnson at Slideshow Alley, on an exciting music video venture capturing performing artists in the alleys and laneways of Melbourne, Australia, recording them performing one song, one take, with no fixed agenda and no rehearsal, while Scarab DP Joel Betts has been busy shooting music videos for the likes of Phrase, M-Phazes, Big Scary, Matt Walters and Felix Riebl in addition to a handful of shorts, including our own, And The Earth Moves Too.

The coming months will see the release of another Scarab co production feature, Matiere Griese, in addition to the finalising of Eli The Invincible, a Screen Australia supported short Directed by Miranda Nation.
