Power Electronics and Electronic Devices

Power Electronics are an essential part of efficient energy transmission, and in later years have become vital to the renewable energy sector.

Used in everything from everyday electronic devices to high-voltage transmission systems, power electronics, such as switches, inverters and controllers, allow electric power to be precisely and rapidly controlled. Thus, power electronics play an important role in ensuring a reliable and efficient energy supply and in incorporating renewable energy sources into the energy system.

In recent years, power electronics have pervaded the renewable energy sector; including wind turbine systems, fuel cell systems and photo-voltaic power generation.

The main focus within the development of power electronics is on efficiency and minimizing losses in connection with the transmission and processing of electrical energy.
