As the old saying goes, good things take time and that’s certainly true of Kora’s self-titled debut album which has just gone double platinum, coinciding perfectly with NZ Music Month.

Released in 2007, ‘Kora’ went straight to the top of the NZ album charts, spending a total of 49 weeks in the top 40. The band has always been a live favourite at home, recently appearing on the main stage at the Big Day Out; but since the release of the album they’ve also spread their reggae/rock fusion throughout Australia and the United Kingdom. Their album was even given the remix treatment by legendary UK group Cabaret Voltaire in 2008.

Currently Kora are working on their much anticipated follow-up album, which is yet to be named of have a release date. If it can replicate the success of their debut and their platinum selling EP, then the Whakatane natives are on track to cement themselves as one of the country’s biggest bands.
