That's the very essence of the "Tigard Downtown Future Vision," a collaborative effort between the University of Oregon and the City of Tigard. We're looking at Hwy 99W, Fanno Creek, Rail Crossings, Park & Plaza Design, Green Street at Main Street, Hall/99W Gateway Improvements, Sustainable Green Urban Networks, and New Businesses & Industry.

Collaborating with the public in the "Tigard Downtown Improvement Plan," we have some great ideas on how to make Downtown Tigard truly unique. We're looking closely at transforming Downtown into a walkable village with ample opportunity for all ages to live, work and play. Come check it out!

Downtown Improvement Plan

Downtown Minute
»Tigard’s Downtown Revival

How can businesses, property owners and residents collaborate to revitalize Tigard’s historic downtown? That’s the question consultant Michele Reeves is exploring with stakeholders. Reeves has created a buzz on Main Street using her background in retail leasing and development. She is presenting a series of well-attended workshops that investigate ways to tell downtown’s “story” and how to market the district to customers and new businesses.

A recent field trip (4/20/11) took stakeholders to a neighboring commercial district to talk with business and property owners who successfully tackled similar issues. Working with stakeholders, she will suggest detailed and achievable solutions to build on what is successful in downtown and address what needs improvement.

By bringing together public and private sectors to discuss common issues, Tigard hopes to further the goals of the voter-approved urban renewal plan. The city has made significant investments in downtown street improvements and hopes to encourage more private investment in the district.
